PSA to lower elos: A lesson in itemization
TL;DR Build to the situation.
Disclaimer: I'm by no means an expert. But this is just a small example I can provide that might help some of you find a way to bridge the gap.
A bunch of the Silver and Bronze elos are probably like I was wondering how do you get out of Bronze/Silver. Same Way as I am now wondering how do I get out of Gold into Plat. There are many different ways to getting out of Silver and Bronze but this is one of the lessons that I took along my way to getting out of those elos.
In this game if you look at my
and look at the itemization it may be different from what most other people do. I know in the past, when I played
no matter what my build usually was the following in order:
and the rest didn't matter because usually I had lost the game by then. But as I gained elo I started paying attention to what I built and instead of building the same thing always, I looked at who I was playing against.
Take for instance this game. I can give you two different examples. First with
build, then with the
build.
As
, I rushed
. This item helped me to gain extra healing from my passive and also protected from the magic damage from
. Then I went
. Now why did I rush this item when the Recommended items demand I make
. If you have stayed this long and observed the match history then you see that they have a
. This item reduces critical damage by 10%. This allows for me to stay against him longer along with giving me armor and hp which is always helpful.
Now flipping over to
.
According to this
when I talked to him, that is typically how his build goes. For those not looking, he built
. Now this build does work. But for the team comp he was against, specifically looking at
, he could have built better. The build that would benefit his team better and help him carry more (that I personally would build, there can always be better ones) is in order:
(or
depending on your playstyle; but cinderhulk still remains the most beneficial given the extra health and 25% bonus health.)
. Now why this build over the one above?
in addition to the explanation earlier also provides the passive that
gives.
provides loads of things: first, more armor than
, a passive that reduces attack speed that helps on the
, reducing critical strikes by 10% against the
, and providing a slow to allow his team to catch up. As for
, that was a good item into the
because the passive provides 20% extra healing. So picking up your blobs heals you 20% more. Not only that it provides health and mr.
