Riot Appreciation Post

Although I know everybody has their ill feelings towards a lot of the things Riot has done wrong or has yet to remedy since it's release (I'm no different), I still want to take the time to thank them for still creating one of the most fun and most addicting games ever. Seriously.

Cheers.

I choose not to complain about a service provided to me for free and I feel like a lot of the issues people complain about are blown out of proportion.

Agreed, and thanks for posting this, nice to know there's some decent people out there.

Downvoted as long as Lore is "REtcon'ed"

I agree. We do give Riot a lot of shit, some is deserved and some is not, but despite their flaws they have done a lot of good. I mean look at the current meta.

Down voted until they stop doing the following:

  1. releasing champs like Ekko with overloaded kits.

  2. Not play favorites and actually show they care about their entire game, by giving TT, Dominion and other game modes equal attention like 5v5 gets. Of course doing something about the influx of bot invasions in those games as well.

  3. Show they give a shit about the community by having more presence in their own forums for god sakes and not just go in to give 1 little praise in posts like this then poof again.

  4. Show they care about the community by not giving us the most useless, and to this date, worst report feature I've ever seen in a game. Literally we all know votes don't do shit, besides an extremely simplistic automation system.

  5. Show they aren't completely incompetent, by fixing the Death cap screen which has been broken for what? 4 yrs now? Hell it's always been broken lets just be straight with it.

These are not much to ask for. It's what every company is upheld to do, and should be expected to do. Why does Riot get out of it, and get special treatment? They make loads of money, and have no excuse for the trash way they run this game. They care more about "pro plays" than over half of their own game, whats worse is that the player base is A-OK with their garbage company and how its run.

Riot's just lucky the game is so fun and addicting, it's the only thing holding league up.

Constructive criticism and positive reinforcement are both useful.

This post deserves more love, much like Riot.

Not only has League been free since day one, but the only way League make their revenue (as a games company with only one game) is skins and such which are not forced on you. Sure you don't get all the champions, but you can unlock them all AND the champion rotation switched every week, unlike games like SMITE.

Also, League is so community driven, even though it has to deal with SUCH a toxic community; they look at jokes/ideas/memes for their skins and champion interactions (Banana Soraka), they constantly get the community involved with competitions and they deal with community rage "OMG LEBLANC STILL OP RIOT NEED TO REWORK RIVEN" so well on the forums.

I know you could say DOTA is more developed, maybe more balanced, all heroes unlocked, free skins etc. But Riot has so much heart, which is really rare to see in a games companies these days.

  • just another fan P.S. nerfryze

forget that, I'd switch to ANY moba in a heartbeat if it had the same gameplay feel. If heroes of the storm wasn't so bad I'd be playing that.

Their support is dreadful, their new champ decisions borderline insanity, and their automated ban/restrict/buster system is the worst thing to happen ever. And I HATE toxic people, but the systems broke as hell and got worse with this latest patch. Hope there's a special place in hell for RIOT right now. Fix your shit and I'll change my post.

Thank you. We need more folks like you!

This game stopped being fun 3 seasons ago. 20 min of minion farming, then dealing with some frustrating champions or people. Let's not forget homogenization of all champions. Addicting? I already stopped playing, only checking forums sometimes

Well they really need to fix trolls controlling the game like really bad. And the game can be fun If you dont have a troll or afk but since the leave buster isn't strict enough and they havent cracked down on trolls fun matches are rare to find unless you have a premade team. What I would think would be really cool is to definitely make the leave buster more strict in ranked and bam one problem pretty much solved.

Well, one does not necessarily invalidate the other...

I agree with OP, thank you riot for all your hard work!

I'm of mixed opinions. Generally I like what Riot does, although I think their PB team is just catering to the lowest common denominator and encouraging unhealthy attitudes...

I like the direction the game is going, althoguh I don't play anymore, and I really love what the e-sports team is doing. I think they're paving a way for a future in which competitive gaming is a recognized part of society and I love them for that, regardless of whether I play.

And they have been a lot more active on the boards recently. I've seen Meddler and many others interacting with posts quite a lot in the past week, and it feels good to know that they are listening to us.

Should we specify some of the specific things we're thankful for here? Just to name a couple...

As someone that was drawn towards support since my earliest days of playing, I'd like to thank Riot for making supporting a more active role than it traditionally is in other games and used to be in this one with the changes made not only to individual kits, but also the current support(ish) items and utility masteries.

While there was already a handful of thanks posts for the sudden disappearance of level 1 accounts friending people just to advertise, I feel like Riot handling the matter with minimal patting themselves on the back was a graceful way of handling the matter as well.

It is truly a very fun game. It has it's flaws, every game does, but I still love it and will play it for years to come.

Thanks, Riot!!
