I don't really think it's reasonable to expect them to be on Blizzard's level of professionalism. They've got 2 decades of experience on Riot. Maybe in 10 years (if this game is still around) they'll be able to pull their own weight and impress us.

Seriously? Where they're at right now, they're the kings of MOBA games. They're probably not at the same level of Blizzard in terms of talent, but you still see them getting great talent that worked on great, well-recognized franchises all over the game industry. Including one of Blizzards own WoW chief or whatever.

The point is, they can be easily be implementing something like this, as well as other implementations all-around to make the game better for everyone.

Seriously. It's so outdated, you know it is when a MOBA as 'young' as Heroes of the Storm is able to make it more variable and interesting. Take some lessons, Riot.

Seriously? Its because they are 'young' that they have a better version of a daily reward system... you know they look at what is available and improve on it, thats how games (and other things) improve. Plus Blizzard is by no means a young company, they have decades of experience and by now have figured out a good reward system. The system in League is what worked at the time and honestly there is no real reason to change. I like the HotS daily quests sometimes but i dont like how it forces you into playing a certain role/champion.

Yeah, that's competition in business, not just in MOBAS but in the whole world. You see what people do, emulate, but at the same time improve on it in some form. That said, this also forces the previous 'top dog' companies to emulate where the other companies have gained success using their varied form.

Are you serious? So if past champions such as Sion and Karma were doing well before their relaunch, they should have just left like that? No. God no. Those 2 champions were outdated, and that's why they were updated, to meet Riot's current level of all-round quality. How 'bout the maps? Before the visual update to Summoners Rift, it was also working just fine with no honest reason to update it, just to make it more aesthetically in line with their current level of quality. They've literally updated all aspects of the game, the items, the HUD, visual interface, the jungle, even things as small as the way 'Victory' & 'Defeat' appear at the end of a game. So if they were able to pay attention to small things such as that, then they most certainly need to revisit the structure of their daily reward system.

Man people need to learn how to compare two things... you cant compare the Win of the Day to Pre-rework Sion/Karm or the Old Summoners Rift...
The win of the day works fine for League because:

  • HotS Daily Quests force you into playing a certain role or champion which can feel like grinding. Riot doesn't want to force people into a role or champion.
  • The Win of the Day system fits more into Leagues IP system then a Daily Quests would, its easier to get IP then it is to get Gold in HotS (mostly due to champion prices)
  • Win of the Day is easier then Daily Quests, you get on win your first game and boom all done you can get off if you want. HotS requires a minimum of 2 games i believe, some of them can go up to 8 games. I know you can save up to 3 quests but should you get a 8 game one and you cant play that often then you are wasting a Quest space. Sure there could be a cancel Quest button but its easier if you could just win 1 game a day.
  • I think most people don't mind a simple Win of the Day bonus.

Now things they could do to improve the current system:

  • Make it available for both Normals and Ranked separately (possibly ARAM as well)
  • Make the bonus dependent on your win streak, the more wins you have in a row the bigger the reward.
  • Maybe there could be a Party Win of the Day, where a Party of 3 or more gains another Win of the Day on their first win.

They aren't all winner, if any at all, but you get what im going for?

I think the best way to improve the system would be to implement a similar mechanic to WoW's (or really any mmo's) rest system. You gain 1 bonus potential IP for every 15.5 minutes you are not playing a game. You can gain up to 75 bonus IP per game played with double the amount if won. The exchange rate of ip per minute means you gain roughly 150 IP per 22 hours, which is what it is live. However, you can store up to 500-1200 bonus IP at a time. Thus, people can now effectively store multiple FWotD at a time and binge if needed as opposed to logging on to play one game then log out everyday OR feel like you're missing IP because you just can't play today.

Thats a good idea. So you would gain the same amount as normal but now you dont miss a win of the day if you cant play that day, instead you save it?

Pretty much.

A side effect is that people who play multiple games a day will see a tiny boost as well. One thing I feel is that when I play a game and finish the FWotD, the next game is worth so little in comparison that even if I have time, I don't feel the desire.

No thanks, id rather not be pushed into playing some arbitrary thing and Id rather not have everyone else playing random things either.
