why the need for more champions?

I was thinking about this. Having all the champion in the roster, there almost always seems to be a counter to a counter. Meaning no one champion can be king or Queen. What is it the community is seeking? A specific game play, abilities, features. Don't get me wrong I somewhat enjoy the new champions. But I always fall back on the old ones. Ones that seem to have been forgotten in updates or rework or even skins. I am curious. And I somewhat wonder if this is a reason some champs don't get looked at by riot. To busy with the new? Just my thoughts.

New champs make money. Old champs everyone owns including skins.

riot use to do a champ a month now we see them every 4-6(i think) new champs add new value to the meta game learning how to incorporate it into your teams kit Every champ is looked at by riot and given some priority towards rework that being said not every champ will receive a major overhaul(model+skills+skins+portraits) Most get something but a full rework takes alot of time determining how they're suppose to work in the new form
