Without and cast-able AOE or "through skillshot" or targeting spell I just don't have a way to punish my opponents in lane. I always have to go back more than they do and it ruins my itemizing. What are my options for harass with champions of similar kits?
I know i have to basic and then W, using my passive but their cast range normally punishes me harder for even trying that, and they can see when I am about to try.
With Kennen, you E -> W to put stacks on everything and then consume those stacks. Try to include the enemy laner in that.
Maybe I just don't like his kit enough. Everything he does is centered around getting marks on his opponents. Cant he just have a decent AOE without marking or requiring marks to deal damage?
You need LOTS of practice with Kennen to be able to handle various varieties of opponents. You WILL lose lane to a huge majority if you only follow some cookie-cutter so-called guides as most of them do not go into very detailed explanations of how & why to customise your Runes/Masteries & starting items depending on which opponent you are up against. Against high-damage assassin-burst-level opponents that have ridiculous amounts of early-game burst against you (like Viktor/Brand/etc), I always go with defensive rather than offensive masteries (i.e.: 09/21/00 instead of 25/02/03), and in a number of cases this season, I have found that it's often better to build certain items before I even bother with a Zhonya (although I do get people periodically complaining about when I don't have a Zhonya yet).
