Minimap

I didn't know where else to put this at, but basically I know you can increase the minimap size beyond what it can be in-game, and I have been trying to do that with the files, but it won't get bigger I've changed it from 1.0 to 1.8 to 2.5 and nothing, can anyone give me some help?
