Taric was already op. Taric is always op. Just looking is a one hit ko
They probably just call him OP because they do not know how to play against him yet.
For organized League (I could see him getting 100% ban rate on the pro circuit), he's probably OP. For soloQ? Tough to really take advantage of the things he can do without a coherent team strategy and voice coms. But if you have a Kindred friend to coordinate with, you can't be touched while the other team melts.
I currently prefer the old Q, W, and E so far. The ult is the only improvement I'm actually liking.
His Ult is actually pretty weak IMO, what with the slow ass charge. Hard to use it very efficiently if, as said below, you don't have a premade, which is all Riot cares about. And his heal is fucking pathetic now. Shocker, Riot fucked up another champ.
He is very mana intensive. Early on you need to play passive with his abilities. My first few games on him have resulted in me running out of mana any time I try to go in on the enemy. He has a very small offensive presence in a solo lane. But he is pretty good at counter engages. Ally ADC gets caught out? Shield, Stun, heal, regroup.
His ultimate is great but he is still a niche pick. He needs to work in tandem with someone else to make his ultimate feel truly powerful. People like Karma, Sivir and Jayce with their team speed boosting are some of Taric's best teammates. An ADC with mobility (preferably Ezreal of course) can make full use of the ultimate. Also anyone with a spell shield or CC immunity also makes great use of his ultimate such as Olaf and Morgana. You can also chain your ultimate with Kindred's ultimate to make a turret siege that is very tough to interrupt. And some long range CC never hurts because Taric is still immobile.
