Challenger to LCS?

Although i'm no challenger division player i just have a general question maybe someone can answer. What is the biggest difference between people in challenger division and players in the LCS. Obviously every player in challenger isn't in the LCS nor are they at the level of players like C9 sneaky and such, but how does one make the transition? Do they just pull from the top of the leaderboards or what?

Individual players don't usually get drafted straight into an LCS team unless they show extraordinary talent. Otherwise, you form a ranked team and the highest ranked teams in Challenger get to play in the Challenger series for a shot at entry into the LCS. NA Renegades and Dignitas EU are the newest challenger teams who have moved up to LCS.
