i have plat friends who did their provisionals and got placed bronze. only challenger ppl get to stay high elo, most of them get placed back to plat. anyone gold or lower is going to be placed bronze no matter how well you do. complaining about it won't make it any different. look at it the way i do. i was silver 3, i got bronze 4. im using this experience to get better at the game. no better way to get better than to be dropped to the bottom and have to climb your way out of hell.

Well your "plat" friends might've of had a low mmr for their tier, therefore by using Riot's formula: (previous season's mmr + 1000)/2, your friends placement rank at the time was already low, and losing a couple of matches hurt them more than other plat players. I know for a fact that many plat players are landing in high to mid silver, not bronze. Either your friends were carried, or they went 1/10 or 2/10 in placements.

Then why play placement games at all? Why not start all players in B5?

bc it would suck for lcs players who are challenger to have to climb to back to challenger from bronze. so they get placed plat. those are the only players riot actually care about.
