Had a game with a flaming Alistar
Alistar, who actually is a friend of mine (we wanted the 5-man premade bonus), was bot along with Graves. I was Karthus, and I was doing fine against Ekko as Poppy had ganked twice for me (although she got the kill both times). However, Alistar was extremely angry about how Graves wasn't communicating his intentions to him and how he wasn't doing that well, and that was the reason Ashe had 3 kills in 10 minutes. I tried to defend Graves in the sense that you should always try and be constructive with your criticism and not flame your teammates, but Alistar continued to flame Graves and also Wukong and me for not pinging when Ekko was MIA and went top (although I did) and killed Wukong. Alistar proceeded to flame the team and threatened to AFK at one point, when he was just farming bot and not helping the team. He said things like "You guys don't deserve a win" and "I'm unfriending you since your friends are all shit" (although I didn't invite anyone except him since I was the second-to-last person to join the group). He tried to get the enemy team to join his side, but they just ignored him and kept playing. When he threatened to AFK, I explained to him how we can win if he helps us and that you have to try and say things nicely to people instead of flaming them.
After 30 minutes of my continued persuasion attempts, somehow he was able to understand what I was saying and he apologized for what he said earlier. He teamed up with Wukong to splitpush top and bot, and was successful in single-handedly driving off the enemies from our inhibitor. We were able to take a quick baron and a few drags, and after multiple inhibitors were destroyed on both sides, the enemy team finally surrendered (they were tanky af, with Mundo, Udyr and Taric taking at least 3 of us to kill at all times) 4-1. Without Alistar, I doubt we would have been able to beat the enemy team in this very long, drawn out game. This goes to show how flaming CAN be fixed in our community, at least to some extent.
