Why are high elo players in normals so toxic?

I am Gold II and I happened to be queued with a Gold 5 and his Diamond III friend. As we entered the game he started saying how Katarina was a shit player because he had played against her last game. He was Akali and his duo was Sona , I then said "maybe she just had a bad game last game" he said I fucking suck, and it's obvious cause I am playing rengar jungle. I ignored him and played like I usually do and ganked top early for an early FB. Then I went mid with 5 stacks of my passive, I pinged Katarina and by this time they were both 6 so this really was an easy kill. He pinged me away and when I went in to kill Katarina he didn't do anything even though I got her to 25% health by myself. He then told me to fuck off and called me an idiot and told me " I can fucking kill her when I want dumbass". So the game continued like this and then I asked Sona why he was friends with this jackass, and Sona told me to "chill". I asked him if he hadn't been listening to his friend the entire game, he told me to chill out and that was all. Akali continued like this the entire game then went AFK and we lost. Have you ever had a similar experience?

Incase you're wondering whether this is the first time this has happened it's not, and it mostly happens with Plat 5 - Diamond 1 players. This is the 8th time this month and it's just really sad to see.

They probably got ranked restricted for being toxic

most of them seem to think for some reason they are entitled to just call everyone bad.

Whilst im not like your akali, i sometimes get mad when i get into a game with players that make me facepalm every 2 minutes. I hate losing against players i play better than, and i cant play something new (firsttiming, trying something jungle etc) because noone else in my team will be able to carry when i party with 1-2 friends since theyre mid gold and our randoms are silver-gold. So if i dont hard win, we lose. This often results in me getting camped really hard which is annoying aswell.

By getting mad im not talking about flaming ingame, but i sometimes say something in the post game lobby...

I always thought it was golds that were like that. At least from my bronze viewpoint. The diamonds seem to be more in touch with reality.

i dont understand why people seem to think that a certain rank in a game makes you a better or a worse person.... how are they in anyway connected?

if i am tall will i contribute to society? if my hair is black, will i be charitable? if i can play chess well, am i a polite person?

for many reasons, some people are rude, some are not, some seem that way to one person, but not to another..... their rank in this game has no effect on any of that, but it is always sad to see people so angry, and depressed they must lash out at others
