Pick roles before we queue up?

I don't know about you guys, but I believe that this is a feature that should have been added to MOBAs a long time ago. If you queue up this way you can better spend your time in champion select instead of arguing who goes where and all players will get be able to play roles they are comfortable with. So what if it takes longer to find a queue I would rather wait a little longer and get a role I prefer rather than wait 14 seconds to get a role I am not comfortable or "good" in. So what does the community think? Is this just me?

I think it's a neat idea, never thought of it. The problem is the horrible wait time while you wait for someone that will queue up wanting support.

In case you played WoW, there they even add extra rewards for players in "underpresented" roles like tanks and healers.

Supports could get +X% IP if currently there are not enough supports queued up.

Lots and lots of problems with this. For example, how would you enforce someone going to a certain lane? I could queue up for support and just be a jerk and go top lane. The only way I could see this maybe, probably not working is if queuing for a role was really just sort of suggestion. Example: I would like to play mid, so I queue for mid. Then the system finds other players who queued for the other roles/lanes; however, champion select still functions as normal. Again its the same problem. People will just pick the queue with the lowest queue time and then go for a different role. There are many other problems with this design for moba's that I don't really want to go into.

TLDR: This solution has been thought of before and picked apart and just won't work. UNLESS you can find some surefire way to work around all the problems surrounding it.

Yeah, the solution is simple. Tribunal, cranked all the way up to "INNOCENCE PROVES NOTHING"

With special counter measure: If you're reporting people for going to the wrong lane and doing it just to try to get them banned, you get the ban instead.

With bonus round: The ban/restriction only applies to the "queue by role" queue.

But then Riot would have to code all of it and we'd never get it.

Which is why I go into blind pick, instalock my role, and go to my lane no matter what with my entire team on ignore. Because why not?

The issue being there are no rules regarding lane choice, you're free to go anywhere you want on the map so would be un-enforcable and the report reason would be invalid, riot has no way of checking if x person went to x lane, as pointed out this idea is suggested often and its not implimented because it just wouldn't work :)

Like I said, the PLAYERS would know though.

Also I used to work under the assumption that replays would be a thing and could be attached to reports for that but it's probably all too much and people should just suck it the fuck up and play draft and abuse the pick order.

Or do what I do and just not care.

The problem is only the 4 players on your team would know, the enemy would have no way of knowing and neither would anyone reading tribunal, its an idea that will never work for this genre of game due to there being so many viable tactics and options, what if i want to play a team comp that involves no ADC but instead dual APC, how would your role system handle that, want to play double jungle, same issue, the reason this works for games like WoW is because there is only one real way to play that game, the meta is not and never will be forced by riot directly which is why a system like this could never work :)

And because of it I will keep playing what I want when I want where I want regardless of what other people want because there is no meta and no rules written anywhere say I can't play Eve top just because some Jax says "he called it" first.

I follow my rule of thumb in all queues, including blind. I never have any intention of letting somebody random dictate what I do with my 40 minutes.
