riven jungle isn't uncommon in challenger league, it can actually be pretty good. she has a weak first couple levels but really strong ganks and an amazing late game.
aside from that, sometimes you just get people who lock in weird champions for roles they don't work well in. most often this happens when you don't let someone play their preferred role and they get stuck doing something they dont want. if you ask around and let people get the roles they want there's a good chance you can avoid this. otherwise you should exercise your right to dodge if you feel it's ruining your chances to win.
