My brother has been playing lol for about a year now and its change him so much. Today it went to far, he plays for 4/5 hours a day and doesn't get any where due to bad MMR. Today he started screaming and yelling in his room (due to losing lots of games in a row) and inside my heart i wanted to cry so much. I couldn't believe what this game has done to my brother. Everyday he plays, and plays. He lies to my mom and dad about him not playing much. I don't want to tell on him since he is my brother, but I don't know how to stop him. he is locked in his room from 1pm until midnight just on the computer. Please anyone if you have good advice, share it. I just don't want him to ruin his life.

How old is he?

I'm addicted to League but you know what, real life overall is pretty depressing by any standard once you're old enough to see society for what it truly is, and lately it's gotten worse regarding my family and other personal and financial issues and the fact that depression runs strong on both sides of the family doesn't help one bit. I often play more than 10 hours a day and it's a way to keep my mind off of what happens outside, it's an effective, if short term, solution. It's better than what many other people do to cope with such problems, like taking drugs etc.

TL:DR Maybe he isn't raging at League because he can't climb, maybe it's because he finally found the one thing that can take his mind off of other issues he is having, and seeing himself fail at something he has so heavily invested himself in hurts him deeply.

i really do this is a serious problem, i don´t know how to help you but many people may have the same problem, try searching on boards maybe you´ll find some answer. i wish you good luck and maybe you can try to play with him or try to cool him down telling him things like " dont worry im sure you will get higher in rank, besides they put you up against players that are probably at the same level as you, but inferior level (or rank) so you can carry and improve" at least thats what i can come up with. i hope something works out for you though. he will eventually stop doing that or maybe he just needs a litle push. :D

well it depends on how serious the problem is, he could be addicted, in which case it isn't good to cover for him, but if that isn't the case, just tell him to take breaks now and then, see what he is doing wrong in the game, and he will eventually climb or realize that he is spending too much time on league.

Lol this probably happened to a majority of people who played league.. Can't really help that guy. Maybe cancel Internet? Or get 1 Mbps Internet and uninstall league so if he redownloads it'll be season 12 before he can play again.

Play with him. Playing with friends and people you know is much more relaxing. Don't play ranked. Play normals or ARAMs. Have some fun playing the game together. If your computers are in different rooms, Skype him while playing.

You have to slowly make him play max 3 games a day (WARNIING:If you immidiately cut his LoL he is a lot likely to have a panic attack so DO NOT INSTANTY REMOVE IT)

If he refuses to you start going the hard way (obivously after you explain whats happening to him ,he aint gonna like it and probably refuse that its true,) The hard way means that for example every day X happens and you help him do it, or he eats X everyday and that suddenly stops. If you start changing the rutine his brain should adapt more to it. Later you can play other games, go hang out after that bring some friends, explain him you are doing it for him that they all do it for him.

Note: This won't be fast be patient

LoL is addicting. Studies have shown that prolonged play of video games actually makes you feel connected the the character, like when i play shaco and get out with stealth and like 45 hp my heart goes a million miles an hour. It's possible to become emotionally connected to the game. Try to have him play unranked and matches that will be enjoyable and fun for him, it usually makes me feel great when im winning. Try to play with him if your good, playing with other people also helps because your a lot more social and usually wins games more often :P

If he's still a kid, the right thing to do is to talk to him first. Tell him you care about him, tell him the game is affecting him even if he doesn't notice, and tell him that the game is ultimately not worth it. Beyond that, use your intuition. If nothing good happens, then tell your parents. His well being trumps whatever moral sense you have about snitching.
