Sions ult really isn't that bad.

I've secured so many kills with it. You just gotta be careful how you use it.

One time i got killed top lane(1st turrets). Respawned. Hit my ult right outside of the base and charged into lane..Right into the enemy who hadn't even backed yet with only a quarter of health. Suffice to say I got the kill and it was pretty hilarious. He never seen it coming.

Its great to use if you're jungling Sion. You don't even have to gank from the river but directly from lane and out of sight. . In fact I would say this is the most effective way to use is ult. The river is too narrow to turn. just watch for allies cause I think they can stop your ult

Sion's ult if really good if you know how to use it. It is great to use on a group of enemies then you can rek them

The only thing that can be annoying is the turning, you can really turn and you can miss easily and smash into a tree or something and you lose the ult after that Sion

In just getting used to it, you really have two options: secure a kill at close-ish range and do no damage (since damage scales with traveled distance) or charge into a teamfight (whether you start it or not!). Both are really effective if you time it properly, and most of the time the rough turns aren't even an issue. Especially if you remember that you can stop yourself.
