As a Silver can you play against Platinium?

This guy was Plat V, 0 LP but I believed you could only play with up to Gold players. Can't recall correctly. Anyone?

flase dip shit. I had a game yesterday when i was plat 5 80 lp and got faced vs a team of gold 3's. My teammates? silver 1 silver 2 gold 3 silver 1.

I think what he is saying is it IS possible to have the two-tier difference (ie: gold and diamonds can be placed in a game together just like silver and plat.)

As to the OP, I think it is possible to have any number of difference as long as the 'team mmr' (if you will) is closely matched together. I believe it tries to match close to your rank, but I don't see why diamond+4 silvers couldn't be matched against a plat+some golds if their team mmr is roughly equal.

if the silver or the plat player are a part of a duo/trio etc group going into the game. I think it is possible.

obviously they wouldn't be able to que up together.

It couldn't have been a ranked game because if you are silver, you can only get matched against bronze, silver, and/or gold regardless of it's a premade or not. The only way a silver could be matched against a plat is if it was norms or custom.

Just checked and yeah it seems that did actually happen. That's really odd. I've never heard of that happening before and I know that when Riot introduced the DQ they also stated that when playing in a ranked game, you can only get matched with other players in your same tier or one tier below or above you. So I have no ide how this happened. Maybe send in a support ticket to find out how it happened?

EDIT: Maybe there's some sort of bug in match making because if you have any plat+ friends in your friend list and when you're creating a ranked game, their names will be blacked out and unclickable.

Yep. Indeed I can't invite Plat players, but I can be matched with them.

You can only duo with them yes but the matchmaking is so horrendous that you can actually get people that you cant que with in your game. Sick shit huh?
