Advice wanted on my water color!

Should I use my art pen on the contours of the head, body, ears, etc. or should I limit it to just the nose, tattoos, and irises.

Depends on the effect you want. The more art pen you use the less realistic it'll look overall due to the art pen's sharpness compared to the watercolours.
Another option would be to use less watered-down tube watercolours for your outlines and a longish round yellow acrylic-hairedbrush.

This helps a lot. I'm going to keep it minimal on pen usage.

I have printed out a few copies of the watercolor and I'm going to practice on those to see what I like. I agree that pens reduce how real it looks because of the drastic difference and sharpness.

I don't have tube watercolors so I can't use those. We'll see, I'll likely post the end result.

No prob.^^ If you don't have tubes the next best thing is to add minimal water to the other ones (cakes right?) and work it in then let it dry out a bit. It should work just as well.

Edit: the cakes are really just pre-dried tubes in another form, all that matters is that you end up with a more concentrated paint product that won't run to do the edges.
