Look at his range! Mid lane I feel will with out a doubt suits his kit. What are your thoughts?

Riot has said they think he'll do well there even though he was designed for a duo lane :)

He's a definite Burst Carry from what I can figure of his kit.

And Burst Carries usually do tend to find their home mid lane.

You know, mage doesn't necessarily mean mid, nor does bot necessarily mean AD.

It's totally possible to have this guy go mid-lane so he can get solo lane XP and get stronger spells quickly, and it's totally fine to send a mage that scales stronger with items than spells (not many, considering the class, but champions like Azir is a possibility) or has high synergy with a support (Morgana and Lux would be a strong combo, and it's not like the enemy ADC is going to grab more than one MR item in the early game).

The meta shifts with balance and champion changes. Since this guy doesn't necessarily seem like a "traditional" mage or marksman, but is still an AD carry, it's entirely possible that there's a more optimal way to play than what the meta suggests. As long as you have a balance of physical and magic damage on your team, and you send champions to their optimal lane (mages generally go mid for more XP, but you could send specific mages bot lane if they have item or support synergy over XP thirst), you don't have to play the somewhat kinda strict meta that players keep going with.
