Champion Interactions and Diversity

A while back, the interaction with Ahri being able to charm Leblanc mid dash was removed. Now Shyvana, Amumu, and many other champions also share odd interactions with cc not being applied immediately where they used to apply on hit, Why are players being punished for the fact that they have the reflexes to use a spell, and what happened to "Strategic Diversity"? The meta has been very stagnant for the longest time in competitive as well as general ranked play. This is of course ignoring the fact that players are already punished with long queues, unfair matches (I was recently placed with a gold player among low silver and bronze), and the unfair champion select (first pick has no benefits since it is blind pick with no bans). I used to like playing league, but now I feel that I am being punished for doing nothing wrong. I die to odd cc interactions, I am forced into unfair matches, and I am forced into an unfair champion select. I would appreciate insight into why players are punished for seemingly no reason.
