Let them give themselves a "self mute" button. Where they can press a button which disables them for talking for a period of time. I recently got a chat restriction because of some games (rip hextech:<), I don't like being toxic but im very passive aggressive and i think my own toxicity could be solved by having a self mute button.
Not a bad option, really. Would allow people to vent without actually causing any damage.
I think setting a timer of say 30 second self-mute or 45 second self-mute with a small warning before it ends would be nice.
Come on, it's a way for player to help correct their own behavior.

edit: or smash out every button of your keyboard apart from QWERDF, Alt, Ctrl, Shift and Space.

there should be a way to disable chat all together. Whenever someone types or tells me what to do I just tell them to shut the fuck up and nobody cares creating instant tilt.
If you mean an option in your settings that you cant modify once ingame then it wouldnt be a bad idea. But If the self-mute button exist ingame you can simply choose to unmute yourself, the same way you can just press enter and spam on the chat or not. In this case is not about the tools that the game gives you to help the problem but how you decide to act.
