Riot welcomes Radiant Entertainment

Basically Riot Games acquired an existing studios While doing it, they stopped the development of one of the two games the studio was working on, a side-scrolling fighting game, and the studio released a message saying they are going to work on a brand new project they can't reveal yet

As for Rising Thunder, the team will start work on a new game that we’re incredibly excited about. We wish we could say more now, but rest assured you’ll hear more when the time is right. For now, we will be permanently closing Rising Thunder on March 18th. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Alpha!

I highly doubt it's LOL related. All of Square Enix's IPs from Ubi Soft aren't Final Fantasy related; When EA mercilessly gobbles up tiny companies, they don't all pump out clones of Madden IveRunOutOfNumbers, etc, etc, so I highly doubt a company like Riot, who's probably hoping to diversify their IPs by acquiring another studio, is going to stack everything they ever do under the LOL banner.

The thing is, Riot was interested specifically in the part of the company that was doing the game that has now been cancelled, because the other game according to the message will likely go untouched So they purposedly kept up one Ip while shutting down another, apparently because they want to use that know-how to do something else
