Why do people only want to pay attention and play as a team when they are losing?

Had a close to 50 min where we were up by 25 or so kills. Guys carrying were just running around solo and ignored pings , requests to group. They start dying more often and we lose an inhib ... now they want to group 40 min in.

I don't know if anyone else does this, but mentally I check out. I'm done with the game. If you don't try at the start and goof around; why expect people to act like your team AFTER the game is in trouble?
