[Petition] Give us a real Client

Hello,

It is a problem that represents at times, you can simply Google for it and see how the boards archive is full of similar error reports. I'm talking of the infamous "client has stopped working" or also "disconnected from pvp.net" during champion select in ranked games. Everyone now knows that this is being caused by the Adobe Air release that Riot is currently using to deliver the client (Running version 3.x while there is version 15.x available for example). What does Adobe Air allow us to do? Essentially it allows to reproduce Flash files and create rich applications, if you browse the LoL folder you will find a wide variety of SWF (Flash) files and relative LOG (error dump) files.

Every that often they always answer with a canned response that will randomly suggest us to: 1) disable (or uninstall!) our firewall, 2) disable IP Helper (used to browse the web) and in the best case to provide "proof" of the error, asking for screen shots, error dumps and various other files. All this is to discourage us to seek answer, that's true, because even in the case that you are skilled enough to provide what they ask, you will receive another request that will ask you to uninstall / repair the game client, and at times Windows itself.

Let's say that no other MMORPG will ever ask us to mutilate our system by disabling or removing parts of it, only Riot has the habit of negating the evidence and tell us that the problem is on our system and not their CloudFlare servers, they will never admit that the problem in on their side, not until they keep cashing from skins and other stuff at least.

Here is the proposal of what should be done:

  1. Give us a REAL game client like any other MMORPG is able to provide, and this includes F2P games that we all know.

  2. Amend penalties when the dodge occour because of a client crash, and not because the program has been terminated by us

It is truly amazing that they have stuck with this PoS client. When they did that whole client update, I was so excited...until I realized that Adobe Air was being kept. I mean no offense towards Adobe, or its products, but it just isn't the right framework for a game client of this size and magnitude. It was fine when they just started, because they had a legitimate reason to have Adobe Air....but now? With all the money they are earning, and all their employees? They should have made a new client....hell they should have had a new client over a year ago, and its downright disappointing that they wont get it done.

I would have rather stuck with the old client (pre-updated) and sat around with that PoS for another 3 months if thats what it took for a new client to be made instead.

I can't play ranked cause the thing always fking disconnects and I can't pick my champ and am forced to dodge. Only started happening on the most recent patch, it happened like a year ago on a DIFFERENT computer but I fixed it somehow, it took a month to fix it a year ago im not doing it again. fix ur fking client.

Adobe AIR is a light version of Flash. And you know how bad unstable and unoptimised it is.

No offense to Adobe, and I'm learning Flash right now. It uses too much CPU and RAM compared to other languages(except Java, the worst optimised one)

I personally have a7 month long support ticket still open that is involving the air client because it constantly has crashes when doing anything in the air client and then the 2nd symptom being after I finish a game there are times I never get to the score board screen since it auto closes (crashes).
