I need people to test a Soraka build for me and tell me their results.

I'm not super happy with the Soraka rework, but the sheer awesomeness of the upcoming Reaper Soraka skin has forced me to try to play her. I've been playing her as a support and have come up with a build that allows her to support while also putting out respectable damage.

The full build (not that you'll usually get to make it all is): item 3050 item 3071 item 3504 item 3254item 2045 item 3124 item 3364

I'm using attack speed reds, armor yellows, mr/level blues, and currently lifesteal quints, although I would probably make them gold quints if I had them. Masteries are 9/21 with a focus on attack damage/speed in the offense tree, not sure if a more offense oriented build wouldn't be better...

item 3050 gives health, cooldown reduction, AD and lifesteal to not just you, but all your allies. item 3071 gives more cooldown reduction, AD, health, and shreds armor, which benefits all of your allies. Finally item 3504, gives you some mana regen, a little AP, caps your cooldown reduction and makes your heals give bonus attack speed.

In a teamfight situation, the combo of these 3 items allows you to enhance your team in a clutch situation, as the AD, armor shred and attack speed can very quickly turn things in your favor.

My games never seem to last long enough to build item 3124 but for AD support Soraka it's very powerful. What does Soraka do? Spend health for heals. What does this do? Gives you bonuses for low health. The ramping attack speed and AP help get more oomph from her spells, while also giving her that extra damage and lifesteal she needs in clutch situations.

As for the other items, item 3006 is for more damage and shred, item 2049 is mandatory since no one else on your team wants to ward, although I like to delay buying this as much as possible.

I've been playing a few games with this setup myself, and been trying to fine tune the build. I usually start with item 3301 into item 3096 as all the stats help her a lot early game, while giving her the much needed money. Aside from that, I will build in order of immediate need, selling item 3096 once I'm out of item space. I've considered item 3153 and item 3025 as possible alternatives for item 3504 and item 3124, but those are much harder to afford on a supports salary, and also make you more of a secondary ADC than a support.

What I need is people who are willing to test this out.

  1. Do you think an offense, defense, or uility focused mastery path is best for this?
  2. What is a good order to build these items in?
  3. Are there any items that are better for this than what I have here?

I just wanted to try this out, since I don't usually see AD support builds, and this feels most appropriate as a Reaper Soraka leading a very aggressive team to victory. Just be sure to yell "BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!" when you use your ult, it's totally awesome.

This is really thinking out of the box. Shame I dont have the runes to give this a spin.

The runes, much like everything else, are not mandatory they just help a bit. I'm not even sure those are the best runes; I was also thinking of AP/level blues to give you a source of AP outside the meager amount from your items, but Soraka's ratio's are kinda meh, so I feel the MR/level runes give more value overall.

I got the idea thinking, "how can I play Soraka without feeling completely defenseless?" and decided that AD would be the better route due to the unreliability of her native spells. With AD came with the idea to lifesteal health back rather than the HP/5 approach that other people have been suggesting for Soraka, but it really calls for a more aggressive style of play, since you should be auto attacking much more than you might on normal Soraka.

I will try this right meow after I set the runes and masteries upsummoner 4

I used my Ryze/Morde Runes and my Dah Beahs masteries.

  1. My Voli masteries worked pretty well. I was bot with a lucian vs another sora and corki. They could not really farm. So Offense/Defense in the mix is good. 2)not counting the item 3301 ///item 2045 item 3006 item 3124item 3025 item 3050 item 3071 I feel this would be optimal. 3)Probably I didn't check though.

Ah, good. Thanks for giving it a try ^_^

I've tried a couple of matches building up to the item 3504, but the mana regen part just felt like it wasn't doing enough. I think item 3025 will probably be better overall with the armor, mana, sheen proc and slow.

It's interesting that you started item 3124, I honestly hadn't thought of that. I've been starting with item 3050 for the cooldown redux and lifesteal aura, as it really helps your adc's sustain in lane, especially since most adcs like to build item 3031 first, and the base heal is good enough in lane without a lot of ap.

All the effects are just so delicious though, I want all the items o_o

Who else dares try AD support Soraka?

Yay ^^

Almost no one build's Zeke's, since it's an AD item, but it gives Health and cooldown reduction, and more lifesteal for your ADC means less healing you have to do.

I never completed the Ardent Censor in game, did you notice a big difference in exchanges on your heals?
