forced to alpha client?

So i had alpha client downloaded and i could either choose alpha or legacy client to play with . But i recently opened legacy client it said 2mb update " upgrading your client" And now both my clients are alpha . And i cant open the legacy client. What's so bad about that?
No custom games Join a custom game in alpha client isn't available yet . So i cant play any custom any more ?
