@Riot Question about Tribunal and Chat Restriction (Reposted from GD)

MY QUESTION!

Is there going to be a double jeopardy clause when the tribunal comes back up? I was already punished for actions prior to the chat ban with the 30 game chat restriction, so when the tribunal comes back in session, can they pull up files from 2012/2013 and say "Yeah this guy is toxic" and ban me again, or is it a clean slate as of May 20th (or whenever you put it up)

I'll admit, I'm pretty ragey and toxic sometimes, but it would be pretty unfair to be punished, work it off, then be punished again for the exact same occurrence of infraction. That's just unconstitutional yo.

Double Jeopardy implies punishment for the exact same instance of behavior, and I doubt they will go back and ban people based solely on their interaction a year or two ago. That's just unnecessary. But using past behavior as a pattern indicator I can pretty much assure you will happen. The same way (in an extreme example) repeat felons get punished harsher than first timers.

But on that same note, positive behavior and improvement can be used under the same logic, so if you've improved your behaviour the you more than likely don't have anything to be worried about, but if you've consistently been banned sense then I can imagine there might be a problem. But they will need a new instance of bad behavior to 'initiate' the ban.

I got 24 or so chat restricted, if someone try to rage on me i must defend my self so where i am wrong and why i got chat restricted. Tbh thats the most stupd thing i ever saw, if i want to say or answer something i got 5 times for chat so what riot doing with chat ?

i keep getting chat resttricted when i barely talk in games now. this is so annoying. ive been restricted for like 5 times in a row now and i barely talk in games. i dont even talk trash anymore but for some reason people still report. they should really take this off. people dont even call me toxic or anything anymore but at the end they somehow report me. I REALLY HATE THIS. and i better NOT get BANNED.

I agree with op. My point of view is different though. If I am in a game the only time I say something in chat is if I am trying to promote teamwork ( lets do dragon or group top and push) That is it. The problem is if some troll or rager on your team isnt doing well and you say something like this they get mad at you and something like F$%K you noob we cant do dragon. This makes everyone mad and most people would just ignore him but not me. I respond and let him know that he is being toxic and not helping the team win. Usually I end up muting them and reporting them after the game. But they will ALWAYS report you back. Never fails they will report everyone on the team if they arent sure who it was. So when I get chat restricted and I've never cussed someone out or said racist remarks like I see I can only assume I'm getting restricted for trying to convince these trolls to stop flaming. With out any human interaction involved in these auto bans people are just getting chat restricted and ranked bans left and right because they reported a troll and got reported back. Back in the tribunal players could see that the person that reported me was actually the one flaming and I was just trying to get them to stop and I would get pardoned. Their is no pardon with this auto system. You are automatically guilty as soon as the troll reports you back.

TL:DR getting reported for reporting a flamer gets you chat restricted and ranked ban, its a broken automated system with no human interaction involved. Bring back tribunal
