Can you make your own tourney with prizes?

So I'm wanting to do a fundraiser right? I thought, "I can do a league of legends 1v1 tournament with prizes!" Here's my question. Is that even allowed and if so how? I'm talking simple things like $1 admission and $15-$20 gift cards as prizes. This is a college campus setting. So any thoughts or opinions on this and how it should work?

I think I have heard of independent tourneys but I would recommend checking with Riot first.
