xmen vs avengers someone help

Xavier alone could probably make them all kill themselves. Then you have magneto who would crush ironman, captain america, etc. Most of the avengers are just humans who die very easily. I won't even get into jean grey or wolverine or others.

Why is this even a debate?

I don't read comics so can someone explain some information I am missing? The only plausible person maybe is thor because he's like a god.

Actually magneto and iron man had fought quite a few times. Where Iron Man won twice if I remember correctly. He used a suit that was bio engineered the first time, the second was a metal that wasn't magnetic. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

As for Xavier, there are counters to his skills.

Phoenix, Storm, and Iceman would be the scary ones. (they are planet busters)
