Miss Fortune's Captain Fortune skin was originally the VU wasn't it?

Maybe I'm wrong but it sure seems that way. For a few reasons:

  • I can easily see Captain Fortune being pulled as default MF and changed into a skin because the VU changes might upset too many people. -Skins usually place champions in a drastically different setting or role. Miss Fortune goes from slutty pirate hunter to less slutty pirate hunter. Why would a pirate need a pirate themed skin? -She tries to share the spotlight with GP as an updated champion in the event although her changes aren't nearly as significant. -MF's login screen here uses Captain Fortune rather than default MF. Like other things, it might be a remnant of when captain fortune was the VU. (graves and tf have new skins but don't use them in their login screen) -5 is usually the number of skins riot gives each theme but this event has 6 (graves, tf, garen, quinn, aatrox, and MF)

Again, maybe I'm nitpicking but I would not be surprised if this was the case.

Captain Fortune wasn't intended to be her VU. We created this skin for the Bilgewater event.

5 is usually the number of skins riot gives each theme but this event has 6 (graves, tf, garen, quinn, aatrox, and MF)

We don't have a hard set number for skins for an event. If we have opportunities to give more champions a skin because they tie in with the event, we'll absolutely do it! :]

Then why everybody uses their traditional skin in the bilgewater login screen while MF is on captain attire?...plus the recall in Captain MF is the same on her traditional splash art?

Bilgewater: Burning Tides is a League of Legends in-game event focusing on lore and the champions that make Bilgewater their home.

This will make more sense later!

The recall was intended to be a nod to the traditional splash art.

i know i'm WAY late to the party, and 99% certain i wouldn't get a reply even if i said it when this was all still going down, but this has been really bothering me. what made riot decide to shaft MF out of the visual and VO rework/update she deserves. you gave gangplank to reflect his real character, why not both or the other way around(make mf the character in game that she is in her lore and leave gp the same he was before)? there is really no reason other than to sell a skin, for riot to keep her current classic skin. her current classic skin and VO in no way reflect MF's current character in her new lore. she should have gotten the exact same treatment gangplank got with his update. the new gankplank is the same gankplank in his lore whereas mf in game is not. keeping MF's classic skin and VO is the same thing if you had kept gangplanks old VO and classic skin and sold captain gankplank and/or his new classic skin. right now you have to spend 975 RP just to get the visually accurate version of what MF really is in her current lore(which is also 100x better imo) but even if you do buy the skin you are still left with the wrong character VO that in no way reflects who MF is now. she really got left behind on her update. gankplanks update is awesome and reflects his new badass character lore, while mf is stuck as a sleezy bounty hunter and not the badass character she should be. after i read her new lore and the info from the bilgewater event i bought MF thinking that i was buying the character i read about. i was sorely mistaken, and very disappointed when i found out that the character in MF's lore wasn't actually gonna be a character in the game, just someone else with the same name.

It most likely was. But if they had made it the default people would be raging because she would be wearing more clothes lol. Making it a skin was smarter.

Nah, the update to miss fortune VU involved giving her more cleavage and tighter leggings, also for her updated splash nah, they gave her one, she needed a much more orange tint. Yep, that's the update folks, they pulled an Elise and took part of an ability away, and added it to another ability in her kit. Done thats it, genius GG EZ

MF is not a pirate, she's a bounty hunter (she haunts pirates, she's not one), owning a ship doesn't make you a pirate, read the lore, please, they didn't give a pirate skin to a pirate champion,but a pirate skin to a bounty hunter champion

I know shes not a pirate. Its just easier than describing somebody in the same setting as a pirate that wears things like pirate hats and has a ship that sails the oceans.

And even in the lore, she has a crew, making her a captain. So again, the skin doesn't change anything about her character other than how well shes dressed.

Captain Miss Fortune should be the new Classic Miss Fortune (with the old version being renamed "traditional"), but Riot would rather pass off Miss Fortune's actual VU (Captain) as a new skin. They don't want to go back on their "decision" to "stop" making traditional skins, and they want money.

No, it's probably because the player backlash would be freaking enormous. You saw what happened to Fiora, so you never know what people will say to covering up Miss Fortune's second set of guns. I love that skin to death. It's pretty much the only way anyone should play Miss Fortune, and it should be her default skin. But if Riot wants to take the smart way out and make it a skin instead of replacing old Miss Fortune (believe me, there would be backlash), that's fine by me. Not money grubbing, just a smart decision to keep their hands off of their signature boob monster while giving us a pretty awesome alternate model at the same time.

Captain Fortune was probably made solely for the Bilgewater event, kinda like how the Cut-Throat and Cut-Purse skins for TF and Graves were just them in the past.

Personally, I'm wondering if this means Miss Fortune either used to be a full blown Pirate, or she'll dress for the occasion for when she tries to go and take down Gangplank or something. Lore is a fun thing, y'know? It all doesn't have to be a big Rito-Conspiracy.

Something we talk about a lot on the skins team is 'alternate fantasies'; basically what can we deliver in a skin that players of that champion would love but don't get with the base. Boxing Vi is a redundancy of her base in a way because she is already all about punching (doesn't mean we couldn't do this skin though) while Lee Sin, being our resident Street Fighting/Matial Arts guy would make an exciting boxer with punches for kicks kind of like Balrog.

Nothing to see here. Just riot doing riot things again. . . . . Not that i'm complaining Captain Mf is sexy af.

Riot did say that they wanted to stray away from Traditional skins. I wouldn't have minded Captain Fortune becoming MF's default skin though. The second I saw it, I needed to buy it.

I would be upset if that was supposed to be the new MissFortune due to no more traditional skins, that blows big time. I also love my sexy big bad bitch from bilgewater. I must agree with you, it does indeed seem like it was supposed to be her VU, but I saw concept art for her before I saw some for Quinn so....yeah. However, the skin is pretty epic, anyone know the release date?

Not only is it redundant but in the new lore, it seems that MF has a crew now, almost like she is a captain or something...

I liked better like this , we have the MF that many people like plus a cool skin , am not a fan of riot replacing things that are fine .
