Generic Reminder that US East Cost players are low-priority to Riot.

I thought this was more appropriate for GD considering it's the only board to get some good ol' fashion love. Cont'd from Miscellaneous.

Free transfers to a spanish-speaking server with no way to transfer back other than $20 isn't a fair deal.

Fun fact: Players from Japan and Korea get nearly the same ping (slightly worse or even BETTER in some cases) as United States citizens living on the east coast. A server, made for us, and we get roughly the same ping as other countries separated by an ocean.

I understand that east coast servers aren't suddenly going to win my diamond promos, but jesus christ.... It's a matter of decency at this point. It can't be that hard to get two servers set up in the mother fucking home country when they can quite clearly do it abroad.

Good to know.

It's not just east coast players. I'm midwest (Kansas City), my NA ping has been 100-120 since they moved NA servers to Oregon. LAN i get < 60. That, in addition to the NA server wetting the bed at least once a week lately, makes transferring a very interesting proposal... or perhaps I'll just get into a new game. Elite Dangerous and Heroes of the Storm calling my name maybe.

Middle of the country and crap ping. Who'd've thought. Other MOBA's have much more adequate servers..?

With games like halo 3 they had built in maps that would light up areas based on the amount of players in that area.

Granted it's a console game, but look at all those gamers out there on the East side. Sure sucks that Riot doesn't care about any of them.

Fun fact, US + Canada is 7.7Million Mi^2 Europe is 3.931Million Mi^2. Close to half our size, twice our servers. Wut.

Lastly I'll close with this emotional but accurate quote.

The message isn't that east coast players should transfer, the message is that east coast players can fuck themselves. For years, we've been given the same bullshit over and over again. A reddit thread or something in GD about the east coast will pop up, and riot will make a statement about how east coast players are very special and how they have an awesome plan to provide adequate service. They'll use some general networking terms and computer science buzzwords to make it sound like these things are already in motion, with no mention of any timeframe for completion. They will write a bulleted list of steps in their plan, then offer no feedback on how that plan is being enacted until 6 months later, when someone makes the same post about how playing from the east coast sucks, and riot has to come up with a new plan. Take the transfer if you want to play with better ping, my smurf gets 25ms, just don't expect anything from Riot so you can be pleasantly surprised when they don't fuck up.

"This isn't something we're ignoring - but it's not something that is going to happen overnight either. Can't divulge any plans right now but we're working on improving latency for everyone in North America"

"sorry if we've been radio silent. Will ping our team for an update since latency (driven by external factors) is on our radar."

WTF?!? since when are you easties allowed to post on the forums? Imma draft a letter to customer support! Forum privileges should be handed out according to ping.

on another note, i am in the mid-west as well and my ping has risen from 75 to 115.

edit: it's up to 125 now...i cry evry tiem

In a custom 1v1 bot game, I get 110-130 ping to the biggest game in the world's server's located half a country away.

In Path of Exile, I get 50-80 ping in an indie game based in New Zealand, half a world away.

That's really all I've got to say about this situation.

Yep, low priority... when Riot is spending millions of dollars(probably tens or maybe even hundreds of millions) on building a giant fibre backbone to connect East to West to help neutralize the difference between regions without just segregating everything... low priority.

Riot wants to do this right, and sadly... that means it isn't getting done quick. This is something no company has ever done before, but it's something that SHOULD have been done long ago, but because they're not taking the lazy, cheap way... you're 'low priority'.

No, you're not low priority... you're just entitled brats who are too uneducated to recognize the real facts of the situation.

Also... how do you know how many servers NA has? Just because we don't have two different SETS of servers, doesn't mean we don't have multiple servers........

East Coast ping people make me sick with how ridiculously entitled they are. And before you comment, no, I'm not on the West Coast. I'm in Central Canada, so not all that much closer than you guys are.

Yeah, I recently noticed a noticeable increase a ping, generally I would be at 93-95. Lately its 100-130.

You guys have high ping and are bummed out O jeeeze that's terrible!

I live on the eastern side of the country (Ohio) and I find that my ping is easily playable, at about 120-150 ping (0.12 - 0.125 second delay), however I do feel like there is a slight disadvantage where I'm playing fizz and I use my "E" to dodge a skillshot, and I feel like if my connection was a fraction of a second, maybe just 0.05 seconds faster (50 ping) then I would have dodged it in time. East coast is obviously not "low priority", but "NA east" and "NA west" servers would be cool, and maybe take away that slight disadvantage on east coast.

I'll tell you what. In WoW I started on an east coast server before I knew what ping was back in 2005. I always played around midnight EST because I worked 2nd shift and I got home around 11:45. Problem is that I could never find a guild to raid that late so I transferred to a WEST coast server and my ping went from 30 to 100+. I didn't think anything of it at the time but it was immediately noticeable in PVP. This game I never get ping under 100. It did drop from 110 to 100ish recently after tech support talked me through my connection problem but that 7 or more tenths of a second between me and someone playing from close to the server makes a huge difference in the outcome if skill levels and everything else are equal. Imagine if I'm already having a hard time against someone and I have to compete with my latency as well.

I can't tell you how many times I activate an ability a fraction of a second before I died and it never went off which often means the difference between me killing them or them killing me. It really makes me hate California because EVERYTHING I play other than Doom is located there. Hell, when I play on Best Ever's servers (which are hosted from Montreal) I get 30-40ms ping consistently. If I was working for Riot I'd be ashamed that someone from my playerbase was spending more time playing a 20 year old game than a current one because of issues like this.

Ah cool, needed a thread about it in this forum section.

eternalpowah12/25/2014, 3:38:01 AM3 votes

The sad thing is that they'll probably never look at this thread to acknowledge our problem.

I need no reminding of how obnoxious this game has become with each year and each ping increase. I remember my days of 40 ping. I'm now lucky to get 100. Still from the same location in Florida, same computer. Same provider. Better internet plan even.

Tkerst12/25/2014, 5:56:37 AM3 votes

I get 50 less ping on LAN. I live in Michigan.

Ariel the Cruel12/24/2014, 10:14:11 PM1 votes

I bounce around the 110-150 range and don't have any trouble dodging skill-shots or animation canceling.

There's a difference of a fraction of a second. And I doubt anyone here is in the LCS where they consider 20 ping to be bad. People need to stop blowing this out of proportion.

BlazinHot612/30/2014, 7:34:54 PM1 votes

Complaining about the problem isnt going to get you anywhere. The last time I noticed an average ping increase was when I decided not to buy any RP until I see an improvement. If we all did this, there would be east coast servers up and running in less than 6 months.

Ternt12/25/2014, 6:14:06 AM1 votes

I am in Ohio and I usually ping 7690 depending on how the network is running. If I drive a little north and play at my girlfriends house, I ping 100120, again depending on the network. Both networks I play on consistently do not have the best routers/modems to handle the speeds provided by the ISP (internet service provider for those who don't know). 90% of people who pay for high speed internet don't have the proper router to even USE that speeds they pay for. Playing with 80 ping is not bad, literally milliseconds of latency. When you start getting into the 200+ range of pings, then you're starting to miss plays. What the real problem with this entire situation is how selfish we've become as a society. 10 years ago this type of shit would have been INSANE. But now, it's demanded like a spoiled child at a toy store.
