I've been getting these random friend requests (usually players with 0 games played) from players who I don't recognize the name of and, near as I can tell, have never actually played with me. It's up to like 1 a day or more.
Is there some ad/spam/boost/whatever garbage going on right now or something? Is anyone else getting this crap?

They're all spambots. They send you this advertisement for stuff like ELO Boosting (Which is just paying to get your account stolen and banned), and the like, and then de-friend you.
yes. I dont understand why riot just doesnt allow friend requesting until you've played a game or two vs bots. Boom. Problem solved.
Lucky you, only 1 a day? I get about 3 every time I log on (so about 6 or 7 every few hours). So annoying, they're just bots who want to trick you into giving them your account info. I used to only get friend requests from bots every few months, but I don't know what is going on now. So annoying. Rito please

What** should** be done is for riot to put the same thing as when we log in on this site to prove we aren't robots (ie. typing in a street address with a photo of it) to send out requests. Because then at least they are forced to do it. And I think it will at least slow down to numerous amount of adds we all are getting each day. Because I agree with all of these posts. It's getting rather annoying having to check everyone that adds me. Yes it's not difficult...but it's getting quite tedious. It's 
me crazy!!
i personally accept the request then tell them to buy a grenade pull the pin and shove it up their asshole :D
They should just add a report button to the friend request UI so that they can't add and delete you instantly. Mine are from the same accounts over and over.
I'm getting about 12 or so every 5 or 6 hours. They're mostly advertising "elo boosting" services. Most of them want your account information to play games for you, you typically don't get your account back. Some of them advertise payment and just carry you from one rank to the next, but after they have your money, they may not fulfill the task.
I feel like I'm the only one who isn't getting random friend requests... probably because I'm not level 30 yet.
Which, along with other things, makes me think being at level 30 has some bad trade offs for the ability to play ranked mode.
I suggest Riot set it up so that you can friend request X number of players a day where X=SummonerLevel - 1. So level 1 no friends requests, thats fine play a few games, level 30 you can send 29 a day so it won't really hinder anyone.

riot needs to limit friend requesting to a privilege once your lvl 5 or 10

I hope you know there are still bots that they have play games. The elos are just so low that you never see them.
I've gotten about 2 a day... it's really annoying. We should be able to report them from the friend request. Especially since if you do add them, they have already unfriended you after sending the message.

I get like 3-4 a day at least. At first, i thought it was someone on my friends list, giving those people my username so that they can get the credit, or something like that. So I started randomly deleting people on my friends list who i didn't play with as much, or who just was always away.
Now i just think I was wrong, and I'm just deleting people for no reason. But I don't know.

Yes, this has been happening a lot to my fiance. He logged in like last week to a huge wave of lvl 1 o game people requesting him as a friend. I haven't gotten any yet (crossing fingers i don't jinx myself), so there must be something in common that people getting these have (like all are in ranks silver and above, played above a certain number of games, won a certain number of games, etc)
YES. I don't understand why Riot is not addressing the issue. Every log in i have 4 or 5 friend requests.
