What if, when all the smoke cleared, the "Lore" tab was eliminated from champ pages? The stress-free descriptions (like in the new Shurima set of lore) could be put on the champ splashes or something. Then, for the more engaged, there could be a lore database accessible in the launch screen, covering the story in full as Rito puts it out.

I don't know about removing it outright, the bios as short as they may becoming do give context to who this champion is and their general alignments within the universe.
I DID read a good idea in another thread that suggested, once events are over, to move things like the Shurmia lore video from the event page into the relevent champ's lore page for easy findings.
I think we should put the full lore back into the client and include links to the videos. That way, people who want to learn about lore don't have to go through 3-4 links to get to the information. It'll all be right there.
Although I'm hesitant to jump on board, I think the idea is a very good one; it would certainly make significantly more sense than the 4 lines of lore they have right now. It would have to done carefully though, and it would have to be an expansive lore to justify that kind of resource commitment and overhaul.
