Jhin new champion thoughts?

I'm pretty sure at some point we have asked ourselves this question, or the question lies somewhere deep within our minds but... Why has riot created a champion that has similar abilities or abilities that are an upgraded/downgraded version of a champion that is already out? For example the new champion Jhin, his ult looks like it would fit perfectly with Caitlyn's kit. And then his W looks like a Lucian's/Luxs ulti. Dancing grenade? Heimerdinger. The small trailer with all the beautiful art works that was shown, where is that? It's like they know that there are champions with those sort of skills so why do they do it? Maybe he could have gotten seeds to throw that would eventually grow into roses and cause life steal when next to that person. I just don't see why it feels like everything is so limited when this is a fantasy world where imagination can run free and where possibilities could be endless and still make things fair. Each champion should be unique and true. Like Ahri and Lux are both mid champs but they are totally different. Okay I'm done rantin now. But what are your thoughts? Why are champs like that created? That are similar or any other champ that may be similar or feel like the product of two champions out there put into one, not just Jhin.

I too am underwhelmed. After Kindred and Kalista, this is a very unimpressive adc. As you already pointed out, there's nothing innovative in his kit, and definitely doesn't live up to the dreamy teaser with the muses. I get the distinct impression that this kit was one of the proposed Graves reworks, which they're now bringing out as a new champion because sunk cost fallacy.

As an aside, it bothers me that despite the boards being merged for ages, I still can't comment on champion reveals with my EU account. That's just sloppy.

Because there is a limit as to how many things can possibly be done. How many variations of 'shooting' can you have? How many variations of locking someone in a spot can you have?

For example the new champion Jhin, his ult looks like it would fit perfectly with Caitlyn's kit.

Yes. Because they are both snipers. Much like how Xerath could also have Jhin's ult, and vice versa, because they're designed as a sniper.

And then his W looks like a Lucian's/Luxs ulti.

How is his W the same as Lucian/Lux ult?? They're 2 ults with completely different functions. Jhin's is a pass through skill shot. Do you know how many of those exist in the game?

Dancing grenade? Heimerdinger.

You mean when Heimerdinger ults with his E? Because that is basically a Ziggs Q. If anything, Jhin's is different because it's not a skill shot. You throw it, and it bounces. Functionally, is more similar to a Sivir W, or Fiddlesticks E.

The small trailer with all the beautiful art works that was shown, where is that? It's like they know that there are champions with those sort of skills so why do they do it?

Because it's flavour. It's teaser. It's lore building. It wasn't showing off gameplay. It was showing from Jhin's perspective that he sees killing people is beautiful. He doesn't see brain matter and bits of skull, he sees a branch and rose petals. He doesn't see blood splatter, he sees butterflys. He's INSAIN. He's seeing violence and gore as something else.

Maybe he could have gotten seeds to throw that would eventually grow into roses and cause life steal when next to that person. I just don't see why it feels like everything is so limited when this is a fantasy world where imagination can run free and where possibilities could be endless and still make things fair.

And maybe the didn't feel like thematically that would work the concept they came up with. Because Jhin's character is meant to be a psychopath, and it would be weird that he is growing plants. You're taking a metaphor and turning it into a literal.

Each champion should be unique and true. Like Ahri and Lux are both mid champs but they are totally different.

Yes, when compared to each other Ahri and Lux are different. But are you seriously calling Lux unique? Her Q is basically the same as Morgans. She has a shield with you could compare to literally any other shield in the game. Her E is basically the same as Gragas Q. The only thing that is 'unique' in her kit could be her ult, and all it is a giant AoE that you point in a direction. Wow. So much creativity.

Also like how Jhin and Corki are totally different. Jhin and Draven. Jihn and Ezreal. Kalista. Quinn. Tristana. Twitch. Urgot. Varus. Vayne.
