Getting back into Rengar

Rengar looks like tons of fun, and i would like to get back into playing him. I bought Rengar a few months ago, but that was when i was still learning, so i was awful with him. I tried him jungle, and would die to red buff pre lvl 6 (noob, i know) so i just gave up on him as i would fall behind early game. But my new interest urges me to play him. How would you guys suggest the best way to get back into him, for example, take him top or just practice in bots? Or just dive deep and take him to normals xD
