Am i the only one that didn't know this about Lux's name?

The Lux (symbol: lx) is the SI unit of illuminance and luminous emittance, measuring luminous flux per unit area. It is equal to one lumen per square metre. In photometry, this is used as a measure of the intensity, as perceived by the human eye, of light that hits or passes through a surface.

Just thought this was cool ^.^

And "Anna" comes from Hannah which means "favour" or "grace" >;)

Lux/Luc is latin for light, thus Lux(anna) and Lucian.

I found this out in my physics class and just about screamed. Everyone kinda looked at me for making weird noises and I had to explain! haha

It's like her parents KNEW she'd be a light mag-- er, ordinary mage.

Riot thinks a lot about their names. They are definitely not randomly made up like a lot of people think.

As someone who loves photography, I did in fact know this and absolutely love it. It's cool too because her full name is Luxanna which could be interpreted as Anna of Light/Light Anna and then obviously just Light for short.

I'm actually really glad someone else geeked out about this like I have haha.

In spanish, Lux is similar to Luz, wich means light.

I didn't understand half of that definition, but yes I knew that lux was a unit of light emmittance. Didn't necessarily make the connection that often, but it fits well.

I learned about this in Astronomy. It wasn't nearly as fun studying when I had to use it with math :(

There are some pretty damn good names in League, whoever's in charge of etymology at Riot knows what they're doing.

For one, my main Swain's first name, Jericho, means "City of the Moon", which brings Noxus to mind pretty easily. The city was destroyed when its walls were torn down. His last name, Swain, means a young man, which is the more shrouded in mystery but may imply that like Leblanc, his age is in dispute. As well, his first known recorded appearance was when he had his broken leg fixed as a young boy.

Her real name is Luxanna (Crownguard), not "Lux".

But yeah, good write up.
