Hey Everyone,
I was just wondering if you show up in a suit to Riot are you too dressed up? I know there's an old thread about this, but things change. I'm from New York so I can't really picture walking in any less dressed than a suit and tie. Anyone have recent experience with this?
Fondling Gems2 votesDefinitely overdressed. As a programmer I can say that in general programmers don't dress up nice unless they have a PR job or something. Personally I have to dress decently because I also work as a teacher, but even then I can wear silly shirts because the kids like it. Most programmers I know wear whatever they would wear around the house. We tend to get pretty lax dress codes.
Based on what I have seen from images of Riot employees that seems to be the norm. So long as it isn't profane, or overly sexual and you are wearing shoes it tends to fly.

Fondling Gems2 votesIt can vary a bit. Riot is heavily programming/artist oriented so their dress code seems to be pretty lax. That being said if you have positions where you have to interact with other people in person/are important enough then you tend to dress a bit more nicely. For example casters at Riot games all wear suits and ties. Most of their workforce though? Pretty casual.
I know the two heads of Riot tend to dress pretty snappy since they are the heads and need to make an impression, but you can even find images of them working in clothing similar to what I linked.
Dress codes of course change depending on your role in a company. If you don't really need to interact with others then nice clothes aren't as important.

Fondling Gems1 votesNo problem. As a visitor I would probably favour the work casual the I linked above since it is more polite for a visitor. Coming in a full suit though would be pretty out of place. New York tends to have very different dress codes from a lot of the country.
It also wouldn't hurt to ask someone whomever called you in. I mean no offense but New York is well known for their unusually high standards in workplace clothing. If you just mention that you are from New York and that you are aware that different places have different clothing expectation before asking what would be appropriate then I highly doubt anyone would take it amiss.
