Lessons learned from Bronze 5 - Bronze 1

Let me preface this with, yes I'm a boosted animal.

Now to get underway:

  1. Nobody knows how to play against Azir.
  2. Nobody knows how to play Azir.
  3. A team that is passive and just wants to farm loses.
  4. A team that chases kills loses.
  5. Never assume your jungler will help if you're getting camped.

To explain the first two in some greater detail, I realize most people say "Don't play Azir in low elo." blah blah blah. Stuff like that, and for the most part I agree. As somebody who has a consistent 70% winrate on Azir though, he's literally how I'm carrying myself out of Bronze. They just don't know how to play against him, and for good reason I suppose, they're too worried on their own mechanics to even begin to understand what Azir is about to do to them most of the time. All this being said, I've seen other Azir's in bronze who definitely don't have my winrate because they haven't really devoted the time to learn him. They just randomly pick him and jump into it. So my concluding thoughts are as follows: Don't play Azir in low elo (unless) you're willing to invest the time to actually learn him properly. (And yes, I realize I still have a lot to learn on Azir. But I frequently win because of the sheer advantage he gives over stupid enemies.)

For number 3, I can't explain how often I've had teams that just sit under their tower and farm. They don't have reaction time to go after kills, engage, or do literally anything but watch their tower die. Their entire goal is to get to 100 cs, and usually they fail, which is ridiculous because 100 cs is super easy to get. They literally wait for things to happen to them instead of being proactive.

For number 4, the amount of times I've watched my entire team chase after somebody through the enemy jungle when two enemy towers are low and we could instead use the time to gain map pressure, is just ridiculous. It's like they think that one extra kill will put us further in the game than getting a huge map advantage. But what do I know, I'm a boosted monkey.

For number 5, I realize the jungler has lots to do, but I don't think any of my junglers in bronze have any sort of map awareness. They all just farm. All game. Even if we're losing 2-3 towers at any given moment the raptors are obviously more important. They also do this same thing during important team fights, and heck the amount of times we ace the enemy team, only for me to watch everybody else go farm instead of taking a lane is insane.

I realize these are mostly gripes, but I consider them lessons to be learned. I think for the most part I have learned them, but I obviously will still make mistakes, still miss things. I'm only Bronze 1, but I think for the season so far, it's been a decent learning experience.

  1. People at this ELO do not know when, where or sometimes even how to return to base.

  2. Objectives...what are those?

  3. Ban Yasuo. Trust me. At this ELO people do not know how to play against a good one and when your team picks him...they won't be a good one.
