Please do not remake GD

Do not remake GD... or at least do not allow new topics be made in it. The new boards are great at making people post in the proper places... making GD a board defeats the purpose of the other boards entirely. Miscellaneous is good enough. if you feel the need to port over the posts from GD put them there but please please please do not perpetuate the laziness that is GD anymore. A catch all board is horrible...

Edit: since it is clear that GD is going to remain. I plead it be removed from the boards drop down as a quick link. Help the boards do what they were built to do and let those who refuse to change stay in their so called "community" instead of having everything just become a dump in GD all over again.

It promotes being lazy and not posting where a topic should be. the boards front page shows hot topics which was implemented so GD and its all encompassing dump was no longer necessary. Work smarter not harder. It is smart to post a topic in the appropriate board so it can be found much faster instead of looking for an hour in GD hoping to find that one topic from a few days earlier.

dont like the boards? go make your own site with its own forums using the same style as old gd and continue in your lazy life. I also like that you call the things you post in GD shit... it is amusing

The main complaint, poorly veiled as it is, is that people want GD back because of the spotty moderation. Cosmetic issues and complaints are a non-starter because THIS exists.

I completely agree with you. The more childish group want to remain that way and refuse any sort of change that furthers the community in a more mature and structured environment where real discussions can be had without being drowned out by the frivolous ones. Those who considered themselves to be the voices of GD can no longer flaunt themselves and have their topics hold the same weight as all other topics made thanks to proper moderation and use of the sub boards. This is where their real issue is with the boards...

As much as I would rather not say it, if someone is not willing to change and accept this new and far superior boards format then it is best they move to the site you mentioned. They can remain in their same community without demeaning the progress that the new boards format can help promote. I myself never enjoyed the old forums much at all because of the fact it was a jumbled mess with little to no moderation. It was chaos and a pain to navigate.

because GD is a community who wants to remain a community. forcing us to post our crap in separate boards might lead to good discussion, but it butchers our sense of unity. how do you figure it make us lazy?

I love your choice of words because it sums up the community you are trying to maintain so well. "Crap", I am using your words mind you, which is what 90% of what is posted by your community is. So yes, the fact you want to dump all of your "crap" into a single board and want it to be seen as equal to everything else, that makes you indeed lazy.

the point is there is no reason both should exist at the same time. Make it so no one can create new posts in GD and leave it a repository of topics from the old forums.

To counter your argument why not simply post in miscellaneous instead of posting in a poorly named and executed board?

I don't really like Reddit style. The great thing about Riot is they accommodate their players. Those of us from the old forums (and not just GD) like the chronological style. It's just more fluid IMO. If you're not a red, I don't see why you'd like this reddit style in the first place.

certain things about the reddit format are not good, but that isnt what I like about the new boards. I like that you can have discussions on a single point without it being separated by a bunch of other posts. I also prefer that it can be properly modified and moderated unlike the old forums. That means people that are consistently toxic on the boards will be punished unlike before.

I actually agree with this pretty heavily. I'm okay with GD existing. But one of the biggest issues with the old forums, at least in my mind, is that there's almost no point to posting in the non-GD sections. I'd love to see the moderation team actually actively move topics to the right boards. And on top of that, Rioters should actually spread their participation into the other sections as well. Perhaps even to the point of either only responding to threads if they are in the proper section, or moving them to the right place before responding.

I would just get rid of the Miscellaneous section and basically replace it with GD. And, if Riot had any foresight at all when making their moderation tools, it would actually be pretty easy to do a mass move of threads from one section to another.

I would go the other way, get rid of gd and keep miscellaneous. GD is to encompassing in its name and promotes laziness. Miscellaneous is for miscellaneous things, topics that fit under an actual board do not go there.

I do not want to see the work riot has done get overlooked and have the new boards devolve into what the forums were before. Having GD remain is the first step in having that happen.

GD is a community more than anything else. People know eachother, recognize eachother. It's not just "lol lazy board post everything", it's a board where a specific community of people talk about league in the way they see fit. That's why they remade it.

you are right you all do know and recognize each other, and act cooperatively to squelch the topics and threads that your group doesn't want to see get responses. However I would ask you to read the posts of your other GD supporters here. everything I have posted is proven time and again in their responses. This thread also had a positive rating for multiple days, then all of a sudden today it is negative 18? Further proof of the negative attitude and effect of your so called community... You all want to feel like you have some kind of authority over the forums when you should have none. It was possible in GD but now that the boards promote proper posting methods which thins your influence that power dwindles which is why you attempt to push influence against the change. You all just want to perpetuate the childish and quite often disrespectful nature that was old GD where your, to use the words of one of the GD supporters in this very thread, "crap" can hold equal weight to all of the real discussions and debates other players post.

If you think I am wrong in my analysis then do prove me wrong, but you will have find it pretty difficult thanks to all the other GD supporters posts from this thread supporting me already. Just look at all of my posts in the thread, aside from the ones i just made, they all now have negative standing while the other people who support the removal side remain the same. Squelching much?
