So many SPAM ACCOUNTS what is happening around here?

Hi, I don't really post in the community much- I'm just the occasional, casual league player. Since about a month ago now, every time I've logged on to league, there has been at least 5 to 10 accounts, asking to "see my presence online" (essentially, League friend requests) Like no joke, every time I log on, just tons of accounts are flooding in randomly, people I didn't play with or anything. I've declined all of them. All but two- These were the first ones. I accepted them, and naturally- asked who they were. The response I got, was links to some place I didn't care to visit, and some BS talking about ways I can get free RP. What made this start happening so suddenly? And I assume Riot has already gotten enough complaints
