Ok Riot. I think it is time we find out what were the best skins of 2015.

lightdragoon88··13 votes·3,730 views

With the new season starting soon and the new patches of skins coming, I was wondering if we can find out which skin was the most popular/most bought of Season 5.

Out of all the skins that were released in 2015, what was the most bought

750 RP skin:

975 RP skin:

1350 RP skin:

1820 RP skin:

And for added fun: I want to see what the players here think the most sold skins that was released in 2015 were before (or if) we get a Rioter to give us the answer.

Cheesepuffswag1 votes

I think most bought would be project zed probably Also, Elderwood Hecarim and Gravelord Azir looked nice asf

Cheesepuffswag1 votes

wait project yasuo might be most bought

lightdragoon883 votes

Project Yasuo was one of the most bought of 2014, which is why they made a PROJECT event this year.

I think Riot should answer this. not like they are giving away sales numbers just most popular skins. would be a fun fact to know.

lightdragoon881 votes

I hope they do.

750: marauder alister 975: elderwood bard 1350: project Lucian 1820: FB viegar

Most bought: my guess would be either project zed or project fiora...

This might take all the fun out of it...but here is a list of skins by their popularity by elophant. http://www.elophant.com/league-of-legends/champions/skin-popularity

Well, this shows ownership of skins, so several of these might have been mystery gifted or "earned" instead of purchased. I know I got Academy Ahri as part of the Legendary Snowball.

I don't know if this is completely accurate, but I think the top 20 (+1) of 2015 looks like this:

    • Firecracker Jinx (319 with 44,373 Owners)[1350] {Clearly I guessed the wrong Jinx skin} .
    • Blood Moon Thresh (383 with 39,394 Owners)[975] {Full year non legacy benefits} .
    • Captain Gangplank (406 with 37,864)[975] {What? How?} .
    • DJ Sona (429 with 36,146 Owners)[3250] {Not really a surprise here} .
    • Challenger Ahri (490 with 29,677 Owners)[975] {I knew Ahri wouldn't disappoint, but Academy is nowhere near the top} .
    • Warring Kingdoms Nidalee (495 with 28,965 Owners)[975] .
    • Warring Kingdoms Katarina (521 with 24,969 Owners)[975] {Higher than I anticipated} . *8) - Victorious Sivir (527 with 23,989 Owners)[Reward] {We now know how many got Gold this year} .
  8. Blood Moon Elise (531 with 23,155 Owners)[975] .
  9. Warden Sivir (539 with 21,417 Owners)[750] {I had no idea Sivir was this popular} .
  10. Star Guardian Lux (540 with 20,898 Owners)[1350] {This crossed my mind but I didn't want to admit it} .
  11. Arclight Vel'Koz (541 with 20,565 Owners)[1350] .
  12. Arclight Vayne (543 with 20,288 Owners)[975] {Lower in the 975 Skin list than I expected} .
  13. Omega Squad Teemo (550 with 18,893 Owners)[1820] {It was on the market longest, so I should have known} .
  14. Sandstorm Ekko (552 with 18,387 Owners)[975] .
  15. Arcade Riven (553 with 18,236 Owners)[1350] .
  16. Marauder Ashe (554 with 17,650 Owners)[750] .
  17. Project: Zed (556 with 17,023 Owners)[1350] .
  18. Elderwood Bard (557 with 16,736 Owners)[975] .
  19. Project: Lucian (558 with 16,326 Owners)[1350] .
  20. Sweetheart Annie (559 with 16,133 Owners)[750] {Beaten by Ashe/Sivir for the top 750 Skins}

*** I have no idea why the formatting is like that. Copy/paste fail that won't fix for some reason.

**** It was the (#) causing the formatting issues

lightdragoon881 votes

Can you at least put some space between them so it can be a bit easier to read?

Ravenhale2 votes

Done and figured out the formatting issues as well.

TheUrfGoesWurf1 votes

the gangplank skin was free

runandscream1 votes

Good observation. I'm a little surprised by how low Arclight Vel'Koz is because that was what was given away at PAX. But I guess it could be because he is not that popular too.

Ravenhale1 votes

I wasn't aware of that particular giveaway. I'm also thinking there was something along the lines of "if you played Gangplank during his event, you would earn the Captain Gangplank skin by default", which is likely why his numbers are so remarkably high.

I think it's interesting that there are roughly 36,000 sales (barring mystery gifting) of DJ Sona (almost a $25 skin). Even if we reduce it to $20 and remove 25% as gifts/discounted it would translate to about 540K, which I'm sure covers the cost of making it. ^_^

runandscream1 votes

Yeah. I spent many hours scouring Twitter for a code and finally got one. It is awesome and I love Vel'Koz.

Good for Riot. I think they made a great skin and I'm glad that it paid off so well for them. When you have a huge team like they do, it is good to have such a profitable product. That way, even the toilet guy can be paid with that.

Captain Gangplank was giving out for free to anyone who played GP on the last day of the bilgewater event (Also had to own GP)

TheUrfGoesWurf1 votes

750: Prehistoric Renekton, Urf Skins (Nami, Udyr), Taric of the 5th Age 975: So many can't pick (Champ, Deep Terror Thresh just cuz I'm a Thresh main) 1350: Project Skins 1820: Super Galaxy Rumble, Final Boss Veigar

Most Sold Skin: Project/Pool Party Skin

There are a lot of good skins in the game, I really can't pick so yea a lot of these are me going through the skins and just picking

Fishtaco1 votes

My favourite Skin List... Because it's all about me XD

750: Prehistoric Anivia 975: Surprise Party Fiddlesticks 1350: Snow Day Bard/ Cosmic Reaver Kappadin 1820: Omega Squad Teemo

Ravenhale1 votes

My guesses are mostly based around popular picks and the timing of release. They're not what I think are the best skins of each category, though there aren't a whole lot of 1820's to compare (only 3 to my knowledge since Sona was a 3250).

Most Bought 750 - Academy Ahri (because Ahri) Most Bought 975 - Arclight Vayne (because Vayne) Most Bought 1350 - Slayer Jinx (because Harrowing) Most Bought 1820 - Dragon Trainer Tristana (because December sale)

Best 750 - Sweetheart Annie (nothing beats dropping a fiery Care Bear) Best 975 - Warring Kingdoms Katarina (biased because I have it) Best 1350 - Pool Party Rek'Sai (cracks me up and would be the only reason I get this champion)

750 RP skin: Warden Sivir

975 RP skin: Blood Moon Thresh

1350 RP skin: Firecracker Jinx

1820 RP skin: Dunkmaster Darius

3250 RP skin: DJ Sona

Do we get some kind of prize if we get them right :P. Maybe some rp or something?

lightdragoon882 votes

I can agree with Warden Sivir. Unfortunately, Dunkmaster Darius was released in 2014.

coeurloyal1 votes

I don't see how it's possible for anybody to look at the numbers objectively because most players will probably look to their own champion pools first. I will, however, say that I think Snow Day and Pool Party skins seem to have the most positive response out of the whole pool. I would look to those first. I would also bet that Omega Squad Teemo has sold the most, even though I think Dragon Trainer Trist is the better skin. It's just been on the market longer.

750: warden olaf 975: gentleman gnar 1350: knockout leesin 1820: dragon trainer tristana most bought: my guess is arcade riven
