Has the community really gotten this bad?

After being banned for basicly telling a bully to ef himself (im over this it was childish but whatever, I prolly shoulda just let him trash and stampede all over the poor soul instead of stand up for him so I guess I was in the wrong) I was on a 14 day suspension and im man enough to admit it. during this I spent most of my down time on xbox playing call of duty (im more of a battlefield fan but hey, I know people who play and I like to play with others) and there was something that shocked me. I didn't, at all, run into any one toxic person on call of duty within those 2 weeks and 1 week after. Isnt that like....THE GAME when it comes to childish and toxic players? Well I played a couple games of league, and had toxic, disgusting, and rude players in EVERY game, whether on my team or the opponents. Are you serious? I started in season 2 rengar patch, ive never had this big a problem with toxic players. Is all the toxic players coming over from the consoles? Riot, I really hope you guys are taking into consideration the kind of players that are ruining your game. No I don't mean people who afk or whatever that happens in every online game, you cant just destroy those players everyone has an afk situation. I have a 2 year old child ive had to afk a few times to get something out of his mouth lol. I really hope you guys are doing something about this because no new player is gonna want to play with people like that. Hell im sure there are veteran players whove thought of leaving cause the community is so bad. its not like there isn't any real competition out there anymore.

TL;DR Call of duty is less toxic then the playerbase on this game. If I can play 4 big team games of call of duty and get no toxic players, yet play 1 round of league and bam have multiple, theres a player base issue. Not saying send out ban hammers left and right that's never the solution, but it really should be looked at.

Just a note, I freaking love this game. I don't want to quit, but I also don't want to deal with its super toxic player base. Ive had my bad days, but when every game has toxic players, its a real issue.

The problem with this community is riot is not banning the RIGHT people. Their automatic system is a joke when it comes to actual reports. what it does is first off it will send you a warning (that means nothing) based on how many people voted you for that particular infraction. What it does not do is check that infraction vs the warning.

A good example of this was i've been in a few games with some silver/gold/platnum people (I'm currently b3 almost b2 with a positive w/l ratio) and in several of the games today I've had these "higher level" people just trash talk, curse me out, etc. the whole game, with very bad stuff too, even tho I stated before the game that I was learning the toon (champion, etc) and trying to get better at it. yet, I saw the same people who cursed me that one game, continue to play into other games, when riots "flawless" system was suppose to have taken care of them.

What does riot have to do to promote a better community? Well, for starters, there is no reward for positive behavior, or for making reports against negative people that go through. all you get is a little 'Good job!' when that 1 out of the 25 people you've reported gets banned by the system.

Second, I think that they need to have more community growing events like the pool party event, where a champion or skin is a reward if you are positive or try and make the community a better place.

I love league, but tonight I got so pissed off that I nearly broke my hand slamming it on my desk with how much I've been flamed, talked bad too, and of course against people who are using known skins (like Void fizz) for getting that extra advantage like a bigger auto attack window, etc.

I was banned for 14 days for the same thing and I personally think that an in game chat filter should be applied to the game...that way...any player who uses a marked key word (toxic language) they'll receive a couple warnings. after the 3rd or so warning the player will receive an in game chat restriction that restricts them from speaking for the rest of that game.

this would stop harassment, spamming...and all toxic behavior (because you would get a warning everytime you typed 'noob, retard, idiot, etc into the chat box completely annihilating any usage of rude, unnecessary or just out right mean words. )...

yeah it might make league a little dull and less competitive but....Some people are just ignorant...

I had a group of trolls once....

literally they were in a premade of 4...and all of them purposely fed, then reported me in the end game lobby...

IT IS BULL SHIT THAT THIS CAN EVEN OCCUR!

...If jimmy and his 3 other toxic friends get online and are queue up with me...how am I going to receive 4 reports that are going to count towards my behavior when each of the trolls will get 1 report from me each...SO TOTALLY COMPLETELY FAIR RIOT...

lol...not...We shouldnt be aloud to report anyone for anything either...

I hate when I get someone who's like 'reported for looking down on me' (a player said this when I pointed out that they were engaging and dying every time because they were low on cs and were 2 lvls behind)

You cant report for something like that...but i guarantee that player is going to use the 'verbal harassment' option and just click report because he didn't like me and he wants to report me in the most 'accurate way possible' by claiming I harassed him when I was just giving advice...its crazy out here riot.

Fix the system...Ive been playing for 2 years...I've spent probably 100$ on rp... Unfortunately I am now neglecting to spend any more of my hard earned money on this game if I am going to have to deal with losing my privilege to play because I was queue up with jimmy and the Trundle bunch.

Sincerely, Another frustrated non-toxic league player.

it is more toxic because there is no escape. in call of duty if you don't like how a game is going you can leave. in LoL you are trapped for the duration which is often 40+ minutes.

this fact actually attracts trolls. it is a perfect environment for them. in no other game can they have such a devastating impact on their team. and their victims cant escape! they have them for at least 20 minutes. the game is a troll's wet dream.

Not going to make a big post here so I'll keep it short and sweet.

  1. League of Legends is a bigger game than Call of Duty and Battlefield combined. Thus you have more diversity in player behavior, and you will always run into the people that are having a bad day once in a while.

  2. League is more competitive than Call of Duty and Battlefield.

the community is horrible. at the end of every game the losing team is at each other's throats blaming each other on why they lost.

no one owns up to the fact they will get countered if they pick first/2nd, and rage at others because of it.

That is the nature of the MOBA genre.

This game is the 1st to ever make me say, in game/post-game chat:

WORST WIN EVAR.

After carrying a team of dregs of society to a win that they certainly didn't deserve. Gnar

As someone who played CoD competitively (literally as a job) for a couple years, I absolutely agree that this community is somehow far more toxic than the CoD one. Half the time, CoD players either don't talk or they just talk about random shit or talk about whats going on in the game. Sometimes people get kinda mad but they just continue to play. When I started League, I heard the community was bad but thought it would be less than the CoD community. Nah.

Riot system is flawed. We literally cant do anything right ever and will constantly be in trouble. I am probably close to my second 14 day ban this year and most of it comes from defending myself against toxic players. The issue is these players are now running in groups and just all reporting you. Honestly this point they should just make toxic language unpunishable and we start using the mute button, or better yet just do what hearthstone does and make it where we cant talk to each other at all. The problem is the current system pretty much allows the trolls and bullies to get away with whatever they want. And riot does nothing. I have a ticket that has been open for 3 weeks from when a team mate I had never seen before started giving my personal info out in chat and after game was giving my correct address and threatening tyo have stuff sent to that address. And riot has still not done a thing about it, the ticket is still open 3 weeks later even after i got a message it had been escalated. The simple truth is riot wants the toxicity
