Cyber bullying on League.

Ello to anyone reading this!

I just wanted to address an issue and just kinda rant about something that effects majority of us on League. Toxic players. Now I get that a game can get frustrating, but I just can't understand why people start to put others down over a video game. Does it make people feel better by abusing others? I recently started playing ranked just this week, I don't like to mute my team as sometimes we need to talk about tactics, but as soon as you make one tiny mistake in ranked (or any game type really), your entire team start trash talking you! I get that not all players are mean as I have some lovely friends who I've made over this game. I just wonder if people ignore the tips on the loading screen of a game, more teams that fight are most likely to lose, so why bother starting a pointless argument? And honestly, what is the point of making someone feel awful? When I play I understand that people have bad games, I understand that people make mistakes, does anyone agree with me here? We're human after all. It's just so pathetic to see someone harass another player because of something 'bad' they did or their cs isn't quite up to scratch etc. I really can't understand someones logic over hurting someone else when they're just playing to have fun. I remember someone saying to me after a game; "You're too nice to be playing League." And that hit me. That's just so sad that it's rare to find someone nice on League of Legends. Aha, I thought the people on normal PvP were toxic until I played ranked. I really would love to make it to gold rank this year, but I actually hate playing ranked, and that's just so unfair that players have to ruin a game I absolutely adore! People tell me to get over it, but you know what, this is a serious issue. This is called cyber bullying and many, many people have committed suicide from this. About 4400 people commit suicide each year from being bullied and it's the THIRD major killer especially for teenagers and young adults. People may think it's funny to pick on someone for how they play on a game, or because they feel the need to sit on their high horse but they don't understand how badly it can actually effect someone. I wish so much (and I know it wont happen) for Riot to address this issue and figure out some way to protect these lovely hearts of Legaue players who just want to have fun and not be torn down. Is it that hard to ask, to not have to worry about the pressure of doing amazing each game? Yes we have a mute button and it is a wonderful tool, but what of us who love to talk to other players? (Because not all of them are mean). For those lucky games I've played I've made friends, so why do we have to go and mute everyone all the time? It's not Riots fault, they made a game for us to enjoy, it's the players that ruined it but maybe the reporting we do could be effective and get those people who don't deserve to play; banned. Instead of putting people down we should be encouraging our teammates and not worry about whether we do good or bad, if we win or lose, but as long as we have fun, it's a game and they were invented to entertain, not turn people into bullies.

To anyone who read this thank-you, I'd love to know what you think, even if you want to rant about a toxic team, go ahead. <3

Just be confident with your own skills and ignore them just like you do in real life. Its ranked people take that stuff serious, they put their try hard pants on for a reason. So dont be afraid to use the mute button, and you play to enjoy the game anyways. Just remember "Haters gonna Hate".

Don't think it's about making themselves feel better, it's to take his/her stress onto the players he's receiving from.

Say a jungler Nunu misplayed in your lane and gave their top laner first blood and double buffs, would you talk crap to him to make yourself feel better? No, you talk crap because you're pissed off and you need to vent it somewhere. Now talking crap to other players to make yourself feel better would be considered a slight sadist personality. And i'm pretty sure it's not sadism that causes toxicity.

The loading screen tip you mentioned is kidna funny actually. It is not the flaming that loses games, it's the lost game that creates flaming. Whoever derived that conclusion from the statistics aced the essence of confirmation bias.
