I can't be the only one that enjoys speaking to others (during norms usually) and holding a friendly conversation. But then there are those that are so against it, almost as if they're going to die from it, completely oblivious to the mute button.
Overall, it increases my enjoyment of the match when everyone was friendly and we had a decent little chat while playing. I will never understand people's hatred towards such small things so easily fixable.
Yeah, discussion is nice, but fact is that your friendly discussions distract all players involved because they're constantly reading chat and typing, and it distracts those not involved because they are constantly reading the chat for relevant information. I don't want to mute players or not read the chat due to it being flooded with irrelevant discussion, to then not read an important bit of relevant information. I'd not mute you or complain, but irrelevant discussion is distracting and probably lessens chances of winning.
