If a team is ganging up on one player, the victim should not feel forced to continue playing. They should be allowed to step away from the computer and not have to spend 45 minutes with a gang of ruthless vipers who have been waiting to stick their fangs into people.

Once a team gangs up on one player their victory should be held in contempt.

My jungle went AFK today. He had every right to. People are evil. No one should cater to evil.

Once we start putting the game over other peoples lives we've gone too far. People expect way too much from a single match and lose the whole point of the game itself.

At the end of the day I just kind of feel like... everyone I play with solo/duo is a stranger. Stranger Danger. Am I playing with a bunch of serial killers? Who knows. Maybe I should only play ranked teams with people I can trust.

In sports at all levels of play, it is a valid strategy to get in your opponent's head to demoralize them.

For example: when I played soccer, I was a goalkeeper. On several occasions, I had opponents realize I was very good at diving all over the place and making unreal saves, but I wasn't very big. So they would put the biggest kid on their team on offense, and any time there was a contestable ball I was going for, they would have him run straight into me. I got fucking wrecked sometimes. But even when I ended up sprawled on my back, winded, concerned about a concussion, I never stayed down for more than a minute. I wasn't going to give them the satisfaction of beating me through cheap tricks, even if it hurt. And you know? My team usually won those games, because the other team focused so hard on beating me down that they forgot about playing the game.

Is league competitive? Sure. Does everyone treat it that way? No. Either way you choose to treat League, though, there is a logical fallacy in leaving:

If you don't treat league competitively, it's about more than winning or even doing well to you. Therefore, being camped or focused shouldn't be treated as something worth leaving over, because it's just a variation on gameplay. You can't play to win or do well every time, and you should not base your enjoyment of the game on winning or doing well every time, because you statistically cannot win or do well every time.
If you do treat league competitively, you should want to win. You can't win if you AFK.

I don't condone AFKers. Neither should you. I understand emergencies, connection issues, etc., but willingly leaving something you've committed your time to is a weak reflection of character under any circumstance, especially if the going gets tough.

The mute button exists for a reason. If someone typing at you bothers you, just mute them.

AFKing is never an acceptable reaction to people raging at you.

No, no, no, no. You are putting your "feelings" over 9 other peoples time and energy. Just mute the person and bask in the satisfaction of being the bigger person. AFKing is just a temper tantrum because someone said something you didn't like. Get over it, most of us are grown adults.

AFKing is just as toxic as verbal harassment.

No. But like I said I'm not the one going AFK, but I'll let that person go AFK without penalty. Anyways, I don't see anything wrong with putting my feelings before your negative energy or time.

First off, whoever is talking shit on my jungle is wasting my jungle's time. Also, he wouldn't be wasting 9 players time, only 4. You are really wasting your own time if you go into a game being extremely toxic.

If bot lane feeds and blames the jungle for every death, by all means jungle, go AFK. These people aren't worth your time.

So your solution is to screw yourself over. If you afk the team may lose but you will get a report,leaver buster strike, and a loss.

The thing is that you enter games knowing that this is a possibility. And if you leave the game because one or two people are raging at you, you are harming the entire team as well, not just the ragers. If you want to be free from the toxicity, just mute the offending players. The option to mute is there for exactly this reason. Going afk is just fighting immaturity with immaturity--"you're gonna rage at me? well I'm gonna make you lose the game."

well... the problem is... there is too much that is subjective in who should be punishes and who shouldn't be... riot knows this.. and they also cant waste 3242303485203485 hours reviewing each case where probably all 5 players were toxic at some point but 1 of them were reported. This means cases where a jungler forgot to get smite pisses off one of his teamates in turn the teamate blames the jungler all game... and that is either rightfully so or not rightfully so..

Well that's not exactly what happened in this situation. I don't think it would be right for a jungler to forget smite.

that's why i just throw the game if somebody starts raging at me. At this point i could care less if I lose a ranked game. Hopefully they'll learn that raging makes people lose motivation to win.

When I'm the jg and the team gangs up on me, i don't go afk because all that is going to to is get me leaverbustered. I just powerfarm and never gank for the rest of the game.

Honestly, this Lucian had every right to AFK in my opinion. Sure, he was on my team. BUT there were several racist comments against him. They called him Token ( a Southpark Reference), and made several racist jokes that I won't repeat. He just went to B, and silently disconnected. He didn't rage, feed, or become toxic... he just left. TBH, I think that is acceptable.

Nevertheless, I'm sure he was at least warned or somehow punished for going AFK by the automatic system. There is no comment system. I couldn't explain that he was the victim of racism. I could only simply "not report." I wish there was something I could have done in his defense.

MUTE like seriously when i have games where i am doing poorly and some asshat wants to bash me. Literally after the first sentence i pop that mute button then it is like he doesn't exist and he will eventually stop talking to you when he realizes you are not responding to him

If you really feel that staying in the match is going to cause you severe mental harm, you should AFK. Any AFK penalty should not be a concern at that point, no different than if you had some crazy RL emergency come up. However, a better solution is to mute the ragers, play out the match, and report them.

It's not okay to "revenge AFK" and screw over your other teammates to get back at someone who's raging at you.
