This winter break, I'm taking time to earn enough IP to buy a 4800 champion. I am stuck between wukong and talon. Friends that play league have recommended both, and i have watched videos on both. Can you guys help me by telling me which one to get?

Talon use to be good mid lane but they removed his silence and gave him a slow. Due to this you need to farm and dodge mage attacks until u can buy a 
and get your farm and life steal going. He is a good champion but you need to get gold and not fall behind.
I'd suggest Wukong. For now, Talon's kit is designed around a skill that no longer has its main defense mechanic, so he's a bit more vulnerable than most assassins by comparison.
Wukong, on the other hand, has never been either overwhelmingly powerful or terribly weak. He has a solid, strong kit that makes him a force to be reckoned with in the late-game in exchange for having one of the weaker laning phases, compared to the average bruiser.
