What is the point of the PBE

Now everytime I load up the game on a new patch, I wonder whats gunna one shot me. If all of this bullcrap gets onto the Live servers, what is the point of the PBE?

To make sure nothing that is on the level of release Xin Zhao gets released. And get a free peak at what's to come like a lucky person, BECAUSE YOU NEVER GET ACCEPTED TO PBE ANYWAY I mean, get to be selected for the great job of testing new content.

the reason you're not accepted is because A) you're salty as fuck B) there's an overcrowding of people on PBE and they need to get rid of some people (yes, you can get removed off of the PBE servers) C) they don't sort through requests as often as you'd like

About the first thing: Then why did Skarner, Mordekaiser, Darius, Garen and Fiora get released the ways they were? Skarner, having his rework released, had an even higher winrate than Xin Zhao on his release.

I believe it was something along the lines of "these people are fine, a little overpowered but fine" then Riot buffed them.

They test for bugs and balance trends. Problematically, the player size on the PBE is very small, so matchmaking making testing for balance an almost futile affair. Thus, they look for signs of possible imbalance, rather than trying to hammer everything out there.

Another problem with the small sample size is that bugs make it to live, simply because there weren't enough instances of the bug/s occurring for them to get caught and flagged.

But honestly it seems like they don't do anything about the bugs or imbalance people see anyways.

Some bugs are noted but can't be recreated 100% percent of the time. Worse still, some bugs are very rare and only pop up in large numbers, and so need to hit live servers to even try to suss out what's up.

Thats true.

Although, the pbe still makes me mad because its just filled with people like Brofresco, who are just there to show us all the skins and champs before they are released.

My cousin is an idiot though, told me PBE is cheating because it gives players unfair advantages because they can learn the champ earlier.

There's a certain amount of truth to saying that the people on the pbe can learn a champion before others can, but a reasonable person could hardly call that cheating. Is it an arguably unfair advantage? Yes, but there's nothing fishy going on.

And then there are the Brofrescoes.... Honestly, while I may not like the content creators that use the PBE as a source of new material and little else, I can also recognize that they serve a vital function in hyping up new content so that Riot doesn't look tacky for doing more than a little of it themselves.
