The failed experiments and designs of LOL
Let me just say I have been playing this game for over 4 years, although I'm still mediocre of this game, there's been a lot of failures over the years, but I'd rather focus on the more recent ones. Partially because I don't really have a great memory of all the things that went wrong between seasons 2-6, and that wouldn't be fair to list something that wasn't even remotely true.
These are in no particular order.
Chroma Skins: This is a huge obvious fail here. Look at the prices for the RP of these things. The models in LOL aren't even that great to begin with, and the effects, I can't even tell because I don't even see anybody use these! Like I have not seen one person use this! On paper, yo it does sound like a decent idea, the fail comes with that IP should have also been a form of currency, but at a relatively higher price. This would at least been fair for senior players who have a lot of IP sitting around! Riot even admitted they have temporary "discontinued" the pumping out of new chroma skins until they figured out what went wrong. Maybe what i recommended is a good place to start
The Lore: This is partially good and bad, I applaud riot is trying to expand and redo the Lore, to make it more connecting and just plainly make more sense, and make us care. The old lore was outdated and frankly boring when the JOJ got discontinued and really just got stagnant. So updating the lore and characters can lead to brilliance and a stronger game. here where it ultimately fails as of now. THERE"S NO REASON as why we are fighting. At leas the old story had a reason. None, no purpose. Also, too many champions still are tied to the old lore and mention it constantly. It's silly and looks bad on riots part. It's like we're being led to the ultimate goal, but it's taking way too long to get there. Doing it in small bursts isn't going to solve the major issues with the LORE.
Certain champions just left behind: Yes, we all know who these champions are, that riot has left behind, just sitting in the basement for seasons, hardly nobody plays them, and riot promises for the good ol' total rework. Well we're still waiting. And waiting... and waiting..... this ties into my next point
Band-aid fixes: This is honestly too annoying, i'm tired of champs just getting band-aid fixes when they don't solve the main problems of the champ. This doesn't do anything in the long run. Hell, even for my main Malzahar, that was a band-aid fix that made him way too freaking OP, and didn't make him more interesting to play for newer players to Malzahar. Or like the recent Sona change. There are probably many examples to this.
Dynamic Que: I don't really want to totally say this is a failure, but it's been pretty awful. Even at lower elo like me, I have been on teams of four when i solo que, and it's just like A)they're acting like dummies so im forced to dodge, or B) they won't communicate with me. This can happen at all levels of play and ruins the match win or lose as a solo que player. Also, for the players who don't really have ranked butt buddies, solo que is now a lot more annoying to climb the ladder, when you can be at the mercy of a 3 or 4 premade. They sadly dictate your games unless you're really kicking some major butt! I also feel personally communication has gone way down, nobody really wants to talk that much anymore, and it's kinda sad. Back in the day you were forced to work with eachother or fail. Now we're seeing these too many coordinated ganks to the point of seriously wtf!?!?!? Towers are so weak now that that tower is just a little tickle lol. For me, who was an avid ranked player, has gotten to the point where I honestly quit ranked, unless I can find a few players I want to play with on that rare occasion. This has forced me to quit ranked! Even me who isn't that great, who played a lot of ranked, has made me quit a game mode entirely. Not good. And what, riot decides to add badges, for what? To shame the people who use the system to their adv as riding the freelo with friends? The ranked integrity is gone, there's no point climbing the ladder anymore. There's no pride of me trying to make gold. I gave up on that goal as it means even less. I shouldn't have to go into each ranked match and hope i don't get paired on a premade of four. Or hope the enemy team doesnt have good cordinated premades. It's demoralizing...
Runes: I'm not going to spend a lot of time about this one, as Riot did fix this and made it better for newer players not falling into that dreaded IP trap.
3 refunds: This is honestly bs. 3 refunds your whole LOL career? Seriously? A lot of us prob. made a mistake and used it on stupid crap like refunded a 1350 ip champ lol. How about reward one refund per season if on good behavior? is that so much to ask riot???
The negatives of hextech crafting: Okay, i should not earn a chest for a champ when i got a C+ but only because one of the people in my que got an S. This doesn't make sense at all. This again enforces RIOTS agenda to play with friends and only friends, not go solo. It's so much harder to get chests if going alone.
The Jungle: I don't feel like I know a lot to speak about this, but it feels like the jungle changes too much and too fast and items come and go way too fast. What's the damn purpose if those items are going to be removed a season later? To keep us interested? No, that's horrible balance.
I feel like Riot has done more fails than wins over the past few seasons. The game is starting to get really stale and boring. I'm not going to quit LOL because I'ved played too long, although i've quit for months at a time... I really do love this game, it's just getting harder and harder to love this game :( I know this game could be so much more, and we as players should deserve better. The game needs... maybe a new map? Maybe a totally new game mode on a different map! Maybe brand new skin lines! Maybe solo que? Lol hahaha.
tl;dr WE gotta long way to go if we wanna just improve the base product.
