That thumbnail is veeeeeeeery misleading. I only disagree with the fifth one tho. The thumbail made me cringe before i watched it.

I disagree with the assertion that Zed is easy, instead he is lazy and binary until the laning phase is over.

Throw Q whenever it's up, or shadow and then Q instead. Last hit the minions. Wait until Level 6 is achieved and then attempt an All-In beyond a certain point of HP. If the enemy laner doesn't die, roam and try it on another lane instead when Zeds ultimate is up, preferably with a jungler to back up the gank. Zeds energy resource and range make him a very safe laner, and therefore boring to fight. Hence the reputation of being easy.

Using Zeds skills properly can make for a very flashy kill or escape. I will concede that interesting use of his abilities during teamfights is difficult, and a spectacle to behold. However these situations of skillful display are the exception and not the rule; Zed doesn't have to commit as much as any other assassin in the game. Perhaps aside from LeBlanc. Zed can bide his time even during teamfights to wait for an opportune moment to use his ultimate as a followup on a carry rather as an initiation.

With such a reliable poke into execution pattern, can you agree that, if he is not easy, then he is at least not as risky as other assassin or mid choices?

Let me phrase it to you this way, can you think of a situation where Zed is bad?

Rengar Excellent at Picks/Splitpushing. Awful at Siege. (Specifically the enemy team under_and_ defending a tower.) Countered by vision/pink wards and kiting. Has no proper long range harass. (Bola does not count, it's supposed to be followed up on as a CC.)

If Rengar failed at instagibbing an enemy, and they somehow escaped his Youmuu's onslaught follow-up he is a decent teamfighter. Without Ult and without a Bush it can be difficult to stick to targets. This makes him better with some form of engagement tank that he can follow up on. Keep kitty away and sick your bruiser on him, if he doesn't have the element of surprise; Rengar is pretty much dead meat right after a leap.

Talon Excellent at Picks and Initiating a Teamfight. Good Split-pushing w/ Hydra and Rake. Countered by pink wards. More of a glass cannon, but can get a ton of damage off instantly fast on one target + a group.

However he must commit. He cannot escape from an assassination without flash, and thus will be punished if he attempts one incorrectly. Youmuu's can help, but this is usually used during the initiation. Has no long range harass.

Leblanc The Queen of making picks and getting away scott free. If enemies are bunched up however she has no real method of dealing AoE Damage. Also her wave-clear unless fed/later in the game is terrible.

Meant to be a reliable assassin that terrorizes all of your squishies. Has no form of long range harass. (All are meant to be followed upon and thus are engagements.)

I honestly don't think of her very much during teamfights. Since all she's trying to do is lead you on a wild goose chase.

Zed

  • Zed is good at making picks.
  • Zed is good at split-pushing.
  • Zed has long ranged harass making him good for siege.
  • Zed does not have to commit in the same way as other assassins do.
  • Zed is a good duelist.
  • Zed can do solid AoE damage to a team if they are close together. Better than certain other assassins can at least.
  • Zed does not need to think as much when it comes to managing his resources as compared to e.g. Rengar or Talon.

Although he may not have certain strengths other assassins do, in most situations Zed does not have a weakness.

This lets him fit into the mold of almost any team and be a solid choice. His omnipresence, and obnoxious reliability have lead to him being labeled as easy. A player can certainly take Zed to the next level, however they don't have to in order to find success.

Now don't worry, I'm not salty about Zed's place in the game or anything. I wish his kit was different so I could enjoy playing him more, but people hate seeing his face. He's everywhere, and everybody loses or wins with him. It makes him seem like a champion people who are not used to assassins could start off with; to give the assassin class a try.

Garen Annie Ashe Soraka MasterYi -> Zed

On this list of usual suspects based on champion role

Bruiser, Mage, Marksman, Support, Jungler, Assassin

Can you see how he would be the FIRST pick for the poster boy assassin of League of Legends? I think Zed fits the bill.

I hope this helped you understand perhaps why people see Zed as easy. Even if I may not think so.
