Where did all these sightstone rants come from?
So recently tons of rants from both supports and other roles have been go on about how vital it is to buy a sightstone and that's true. It is vital and I'm not denying that. It just sorta feels like they came out of no where. I just go onto the boards and see 4 sightstone rants saying the exact same thing. Basically trinkets don't cut it and a sightstone is needed. Now, that's cool and all, but 30 threads saying the same thing when one of which is pushed quite far to the top of the hot section (7th thread down at the time of typing this). I'm just wondering why all the concern for sightstone has suddenly appeared where as there seemed to be no one even mentioning this before.
as a support and i don't go AP either. I usually go 
and build as the 2nd Tank basically grabbing 
and things like that, granted that ill usually have atleast 1 
on me for vision and i normally don't struggle with team cooperation when i kindly ask the adc, mid laner, or jungler, if they can buy additional pinks and set them in certain spots. usually in my games we have enough vision from

between us. and actually i do buy 
on AP supports like 
though, since when i use them i tend to buy more Active items. But even when i do buy it i always feel that the gold would be better invested into something that adds survivability, damage, and utility like 
not for picking up kills but for the slightly more punch, (easier for ADC to kill if you initiate first) the slow (so your adc can follow up on your engage / ensure the enemy cant escape / peel for your adc) and ofc the Extra HP so that you can last slightly longer to do the first 2.
