Is it a reportable offence for someone to constantly spam laugh? And I mean on a loop, for most of the game?

its part of the game. riot put it there.

what are they gonna say they on the email? "sorry you are banned for 2 weeks because u have laughed with ur champion"

Players have been banned for spamming champion emotes before. I don't imagine that's changed.

It's not about whether or not they put a feature in the game. If that were the case, you couldn't be banned for verbal abuse, either, because they put chat in the game. It's about whether or not you use the features of the game to be a jerk.

Spamming laugh to the point of blatant irritation is toxic. It's being a jerk. And it's totally punishable.

seems very odd to me.

ive never heard or seen anyone get banned for laughing. but if people do get banned then we have a whole other problem.

riot shouldnt punish players for using a feature , maybe fix the feature. after 3 spammed emotes, the emote should be silenced for 20 minutes or something?

I ask the person very nicely to stop the laughing because it was annoying and distracting. The person turned on troll mode and said that its a game feature, and that I am being disruptive because I dont want them to have fun. (Yeh, that logical leap was made)

well im not saying the person is doing a normal thing or anything. i never spam laugh and anyone who does is a jerk. but what i am saying that even though the people are jerks. this shouldnt be a punishable offense. riot should rather fix the feature and add a disabled sound after a certain number of spams than to punish a player for using a feature.

the person spamming "laugh" on a champion does not affect ur gameplay.

either u hate the guy and its a personal problem between u 2.
u mute him and u no longer hear his champion laugh or talk.

No. Muting someone isnt hard. But he is being disruptive. HIS actions should not be mitigated by mine. Just because I CAN go mute him, doesnt mean that he should not be disciplined for his disruptive behavior.

yes. and im not defending the said person.

i never spam laugh nor do i endorse.

but report him and have him be punished for trolling the game and costing u guys the game purposely. not for spamming emotes.

id rather the email say " you have been banned for 2 weeks for intentionally trolling your games" instead of "you have been banned for 2 weeks for spamming laugh in someones face"

see what i mean now?

yes i agree with u.

what people dont understand in this thread is im not protecting the spammers but rather do not want the game to get stupid . thus i have to go against this suggestion/argument u guys had.

I agree. You shouldnt be banned because you used laugh. You should be banned because after a polite request to stop you continued a behavior you knew to be annoying/disruptive.

You must have missed this forum thread, then. The OP was concerned about someone being banned for spamming emotes. This is the most relevant response, from WookieeCookie. Of note, he says this:

You can see in his matches that other players ask him to stop. They even do so nicely at some points. But this player doesn't care. He doesn't care because he's being a jerk.

Is he using a feature of our game which has many legitimate purposes? Of course!

But is he abusing this legitimate feature to be a jerk? Yes. He is literally spamming the same phrase throughout the entire duration of the game.

Could other players fiddle with their sound settings to disable this? Sure.

Should we expect other players to adjust their player experience because a jerk is harassing them?

No. Never.

Notably: Players aren't punished for using a feature, but for abusing it. There is a very major difference.

doesnt matter what happens in the past. things change. just use common logic, not peoples words.

if someone is spamming laugh and he is no way helping your gameplay. u mute him. and u no longer hear his chat, or even his champion laugh/emotes. the whole champion becomes silences after mute.

so if a guy is spamming laugh in your face. ud rather say "i wont mute him and let him annoy me t hen ill report him" instead of "ill mute him and i dont get annoyed"

For people who are wondering, the above post is a pretty standard straw-man argument.

I never once stated nor implied my own beliefs or thoughts on the matter. I stated, factually, and with evidence, that spamming emotes can get a player banned. That was the original question the OP asked.

Additionally, you've offered a false dichotomy. "Mute and ignore him" or "don't mute, get angry, and report him."

Personally, I'd go with Option 3: "Mute, and report him for abusing the emote system, and being a jerk about it."

Uh.. you can still hear the champion emotes even if a user has been muted. That doesn't change anything.

few games ago my lulu on my team was spamming laugh and i muted her and i never heard her laugh again.

Yeh. You'll hear champion effects but not emotes. So you could still hear MF laugh, but only during the ult for example.

Yes, it is very reportable. They are abusing a feature and it's disruptive to the game, so it should be reported.

Yes, this is still an offense of spamming. It would probably be hard to actually get someone banned in the tribunal for that, but it is a bannable offense

Riot encourages Singed players to spam laugh/taunt in the Singed Champion spotlight. I doubt it's punishable when it comes up there.

That said, I heard that muting a player mutes the laughing/taunting/joking of that player's champion too.

It's bm, but I wouldn't report it unless he was doing something else, like just trolling or harassing people. I've had these glorious moments where both teams just stop in the middle of a fight to spam emotes for minutes at a time.

so instead of banning people for using a feature. if its such a big issue why not add a 10 minute disabled sound on a champion if it spams 5 emotes in 30 seconds.

isnt this better for everyone? instead of people getting random emails saying "you are banned for laughing"

It is reportable ? Sure it is. Is it bannable ? That depends on the history of the person doing this stuff and how the others reacted. Seems kind of harsh to me to ban this person, however I can see a situation where it is warranted...

Player is chat restricted and doing this because they Can and think it is okay to do because the function is there. Just because Riot puts in place a laugh doesn't make it okay to abuse it.

My 2 cents anyway.

I agree with some of the above stated. It should have a disable after a certain number of spams. Consider pings for example. You can "use up" your pings if you do them too quickly. If they had a similar effect on laugh/joke/taunt/dance then you could do them whenever, but not to the point of being a troll.

If a player is using things like rekt, GG EZ, outplayed, consistently in-game or after a game, it can be a something someone gets reported for. As stated in our Summoner's Code, all players should, "Show humility in victory and grace in defeat." When player says these types of things, it just isn't showing very good sportsmanship.

While using the occasional emote use is perfectly fine. If a player was excessively spamming emotes throughout the match and was consistently trying to create a negative experience for the other players with them, then it can be something that you can report them for.

That is from a member of riot .I asked and Here is my opinion "You can use it. Don't abuse it."

i just turn my back to the guy and start dancing. when they try to laugh spam they are being assholes so im just like, nope, come at me. It usually works to get them upset
